New Audi Q7 Has Become Even More Premium

Weight reduction

Significant work was done to reduce the weight of the equipped car. The manufacturer used the latest development – the MLB platform, as well as ultra-high-strength hot-stamping steels to create the body’s frame. To reduce the weight, the use of aluminum body elements was widely used. This metal used in side doors, a hood, a front part and front fenders, a tailgate. Optimizing the size of the new Audi Q7 2015 allowed the body to be reduced by 1.45″ in length, 0.6″ in width, and the wheelbase by 0.47″. These seemingly insignificant changes made it possible to reduce the weight of the car by 716 kg. This optimization, along with a more ergonomic body and a new engine, allowed to reduce fuel consumption by 26%, making the Q7 more economical.

Body design

The lines of the body design, although they have undergone updating changes, but are still in the style of the brand. The relationship is also visible when compared with the junior crossover Audi Q3, and the latest version of the Audi A6 Avant. If we compare two Q7, the first and second generation, it becomes clear that the model has become more tight and strict. Such decisions deprived the flagship crossover from Audi of an individual aggressive nature and brought it closer to other representatives of the line. Although we can not rule out the habit factor – the first generation was on the market for 10 years and formed a stable perception among consumers. The other Q7 will have to get used again.

The front is made up of a solid grille under the name Singleframe, edged with a stylish chrome frame, a huge bumper and rectangular headlamps, also impressive in size. Their technical equipment may differ and depends on the chosen equipment of the model. The manufacturer offers a choice of xenon or LED lights, and in top versions even diode matrix lights called the Audi Matrix LED.
The main rear lighting equipment is located on the door. It looks pretty stylish. In the basic equipment, the headlight is diode equipment, but it is possible to install more sophisticated lighting equipment with dynamic turn indicators.

In the large cutouts of the wheel arches were placed the same impressive wheels. Already in the base of the Audi Q7 2015 235/65 tires with 18-inch rims is installed. The latter have an updated design. If such wheels do not suit you, then the manufacturer offers to pay extra and get the wheels not on wheels R19, R20 or R21. Choosing wheels, you are limited only by your imagination and financial capabilities.

More comfortable

We already know that the external dimensions of the model have decreased. But how did this affect the inner space? Surprisingly, on the contrary, it increased, albeit insignificantly.
The volume of the useful space of the luggage compartment will seriously vary from the number of folded rows of seats. If there are seven passengers in the cabin, the trunk can offer space of 10.4 cu ft.

Maximum, with only the first row of seats occupied, you can count on 73.2 cu ft of useful space. Well, in the case of the most popular seating arrangement – two rows – 31.4 cu ft. The luggage compartment door has an electric opening drive and is also equipped with the Advance Key system. With its help you can open and close the trunk, flapping your foot under the rear bumper. This is especially convenient when the hands are busy.

Considering the design of the internal space of Audi, I would like to note the originality and simplicity of the design of the central tunnel and the front panel of the model of 2016. Sitting in the driver’s seat, you can immediately feel the pleasant profile of the surface of the chair and solid lateral support. In addition, the chair has a large list of available position settings, which will make you feel comfortable driving even on very long trips. At the disposal of the driver will also be a multifunction steering wheel with a compact hub and elegant thin knitted leather spokes.

Wide engine range

The engine rhetoric, like everything in the Audi Q7, is quite serious. The third generation of the crossover will be aggregated exclusively with 8-speed automatic.
Diesel 3.0-liter TDI V6 engine will be able to accelerate a large car to the sixty in only 6.3 seconds, and the maximum speed of 145 MPH. This dynamics is provided by 272 hp and 442 ft lb of torque.

The same working volume will be offered and the petrol power unit V6 TFSI. It is more powerful (333 hp and 324 ft lb), so the dynamics of the car will be better – to the first 60 MPH in 6.1 seconds, and the maximum speed of 155 MPH. In the future, more economical and, accordingly, less powerful petrol (252 hp and 272 ft lb) and diesel (218 hp and 368 ft lb) engines will appear.
But still the most economical will be the hybrid version. The power plant includes the availability of a 3.0-liter TDI at 258 hp. Power and electric motor at 94 kW, which will be built into the transmission. In total they will be able to produce 373 hp of power and 516 ft lb of torque. Up to 60 miles per hour on the hybrid can be accelerated in 6.0 seconds. The power reserve on batteries is 34 miles, and the recharging is carried out from an ordinary outlet.
