Audi R8 Become More Sharp And Powerful

By

The new sports coupe Audi R8 second generation 2015-2016 model year is ready for series production and will become the brightest and expected novelty of the Geneva Motor Show in 2015. The new generation of the Audi Coupe Audi R8 2015-2016 has been diversified and globally improved thanks to the efforts of designers, builders, mechanics, and, in general, the entire Ingolstadt team, compared to the previous generation of the model.

New Lightweight Platform and Updated Appearance

Audi R8 2nd generation got a new platform and a harder body, became a little more compact, lighter and more economical, but it got more powerful gasoline engines and even the possibility to order a fully electric version of the Audi R8 e-tron. The car’s novelty will also please potential owners with a mass of super modern equipment and premium materials in the cabin.

German automobile company Audi AG for many years of existence has accustomed its customers to the rigor and continuity in the design of the exterior of the body of cars. That’s the new generation of Audi R8 will not impress with its appearance. There are familiar, but slightly more modern features of the predecessor Audi R8 of the first generation.

The body of the second generation of the German sports car has become more rigorous and dynamic, has acquired an expressive relief of punching and ribs, larger front and side air intakes, splitters and diffusers, but… the most important thing is hidden under the body of the coupe.

At the heart of the second generation of the mid-engine German sports car is the new MSS platform, the upgraded power frame of the Audi Space Frame from aluminum and CFRP (transmission tunnel, the middle pillars and the cockpit wall, the same motor shield), the exterior panels of the body made of aluminum and plastic. Standard rear wing with electric drive is standard, and in the powerful Audi R8 V10 plus version, the rear wing is fixed rigidly and made of carbon fiber. However, like a number of other aerodynamic elements on the body (side air intakes, diffuser and splitter).

Thanks to the use of light materials and a modernized frame, the developers managed to reduce the mass of car novelties by 110 lbs. At the same time the rigidity of the body on torsion increased by 40%, of course, in comparison with the first generation of the model. So the top version of the Audi R8 V10 plus with a lot of carbon plastic parts has a body mass of only 3428 lbs, the dry weight of the body is 3205 lbs.

Roomy for a Supercar

The second-generation Audi II P8 will provide the driver and his companion an enviable spare of free space for medium-engine vehicles, comfortable and comfortable seating, premium materials (leather, aluminum, carbon), a high level of assembly and detailing of the decor elements. Even standard seats perfectly support the body of the driver and passengers with active cornering. If desired, you can install sports seats with even more expressive lateral support.

Interior decoration of the new Audi R8 echoes the concept of the saloon of the younger coupe of the German manufacturer – Audi TT of the third generation, it echoes, but does not repeat. A common highlight is the presence of a 12.3-inch color multifunction screen in place of the dashboard, providing the driver with a full set of tools and comprehensive information (the MMI terminal on the central tunnel helps to wander through the labyrinths of the menu) and the climate control unit with built-in indicators in the handles.

Engine with Lambo Roots

Petrol versions are equipped with a modernized Quattro all-wheel drive system (front wheel drive is connected with a multi-plate electro-hydraulic clutch), by default 100% of the thrust from the motor goes to the rear wheels, and if necessary the electronics can shift 100% of the moment to the front axle wheels. Suspension fully independent (double wishbones in aluminum front and rear), steering with electromechanical amplifier.

Both petrol versions of the new generation Audi R8 with atmospheric engine V10 5.2 FSI from the previous generation of the model, but the engine is substantially modernized. German motorists equipped the engine with a combined injection (combination of direct and distributed injection), a system for deactivating half of the cylinders at low loads and a stop/start system, which allowed to increase power and reduce fuel consumption by 10%. Transmission only one – 7-step robotic S Tronic.

As a result, the standard Audi R8 V10 with 5.2-liter FSI (540 hp 398 ft lb) accelerates to the first hundred in 3.5 seconds and provides a maximum speed of 200 MPH.

The more powerful and expensive Audi R8 V10 plus with the 5.2-liter FSI (610 hp 413 ft lb) fires the coupe to 100 kmh in 3.2 seconds, the top speed is 205 MPH.
