The Second Generation Ford C-Max Facelifted For Both Markets

The new seven-seater compact Ford C-Max II generation debuted at the motor show in Frankfurt 2010, and at the home auto show in Detroit 2011 premiere of its North American modification.

Unlike the European C-Max 2, his overseas fellow will lose the prefix “Grand” in the title, but he has got a new “trick”, which allows to open the trunk with the help of a leg under the rear bumper (available for a surcharge).

The US market Version

The system is only available for cars equipped with keyless access to the interior, and the trunk opens only if the key is in the pocket of the person walking with the foot under the bumper, or standing next to it. Later the manufacturer promises to equip all of its models with this function.

In the North American market, the new Ford C-Max 2 is offered with one of two engine options. The first is a 2.5-liter I4 engine with 168 hp, the second – 180-hp EcoBoost with discplacement of 1,6 liters. Both are fitted with a 6-speed automatic transmission.

Interior

In the cabin of the compact minivan there are five seats, two more can be placed in the trunk. Among other things, the car is equipped with a system of starting the engine with a button, electric door trunk, an active parking assistance system, digital radio, as well as the MyFord Touch system. Among other options there are are a panoramic sunroof, Sony audio system and GPS navigation.

Production of the American version of the Ford C-Max is set at the company’s plant in Michigan. Compared to competitors, including Chrysler Town & Country, Toyota Sienna and Honda Odyssey, the new C-Max proved to be noticeably more compact, but Ford drivers position their model as a sports car equipped with advanced technologies and with best-in-class fuel efficiency.

European Version

On September 15, 2014, Ford declassified the new S-Max II minivan, and also showed the teaser of the updated compact C-Max 2015 model year – both debuted in early October at the Paris Motor Show 2014.

A couple of days later, the automaker distributed photos and detailed details about the restyling version Si-Max, who received a retouched appearance with a new proprietary hexagonal radiator grille, trimmed bumpers and modified lighting equipment with LED sections.

Special changes in the interior of the Ford C-Max II did not happen – only the new steering wheel and the SYNC 2 multimedia system with an eight-inch touch screen, navigation, voice commands support and MyKey function, which allows activating a number of restrictions for inexperienced drivers, can be noted. Similar recently debuted on the Ford Focus 2015.

In addition, the company says that engineers retuned the suspension and steering compact, have reduced vibration and significantly improved noise insulation by installing thicker side windows and additional sound-absorbing materials in the cabin and engine compartment of the car.

In the range of powertrains for the Ford C-Max 2015 entered a new 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbo engine family EcoBoost, available with a output of 100 and 125 hp. A pair of him is a half-liter “four” with a return of 150 and 180 horsepower. In addition, customers can choose to be compact with one of the three options for diesel engines, represented by aggregates with a working volume of 1.5 (120 hp) and 2.0 (140 and 163 hp) liters.
