2015 Seat Leon ST Cupra Is Family Sedan With Beast Personality

Seat introduced a new sports station wagon that should win title from the Audi RS4 Avant, setting a new record for the Nurburgring North loop among the station wagons – 7:58. At the exhibition MMAC 2014 was presented hot Seat Leon Cupra – charged wagon from VW Group. According to the representatives of the company, this is a “sports car for every day.” However, this seemed to them little, and in early 2015, was presented a charged four-door version of the Seat Leon ST Cupra. Let’s see what’s so special about it.

2015 Seat Leon ST Cupra Designed to be Fast

As always, let’s start by reviewing the look. In general, the same Seat Leon is seen, however, many small things, from which the overall style is formed, has been changed. Stylish headlights with xenon remotely resemble Audi, not without reason – it is the same VW Group.

The front sharp part in the spirit of Leon, the sloping bonnet smoothly switches to the racks along which the aluminum rails are stretched. The “hot” version of the versatile person from the road is distinguished by several details. Of course, basically, this aerodynamic body kit. Honeycomb grille with large sections, the same inserts in the side air ducts. The same can be seen in the rear – there is nothing superfluous: a neat bumper, oval exhaust pipes in chrome and a ST label on the tailgate.

2015 Leon ST Cupra Interior

The interior of the new Seat Leon ST Cupra differs little from the hatchbacks, however, we’ll look at it in more detail. The instrument panel included only the most necessary: a large speedometer, a tachometer next to it, and an information display of the on-board computer located between them, in the spirit of Skoda cars.

The central console is completely occupied with the settings of the climate control, which is, by the way, is two-zone. And in general, almost all Seat Leon ST Cupra control buttons are located there. The center console is crowned by a multimedia center with an MP3 support and a 7.5-inch touch screen with functional buttons at the edges. All this is edged with polished plastic.

Now we need to tell you about the main differences between the “charged” station wagon Seat Leon ST Cupra of 2015 model year. First of all, colorful inserts that make the interior more sporty, I must admit, are adding much more fun. The steering wheel of D-shape allows you to shift the driver’s seat with equal dimensions, about it a little later, but, of course, its main purpose is to emphasize the sporting style. It has audio control buttons, and on the vertical spoke the same “ST” label as on the trunk door.

Well, finally, let’s talk about the most important advantage of this car. Given all the characteristics and results of the Seat Leon ST Cupra 2015, this is generally difficult to believe. If the salon will be equipped with all the passengers, then you can put 20.7 cubic feet of cargo in the trunk. If the driver is alone, or only with the front passenger, then this volume increases to 52 cubic feet. It would seem nothing supernatural, however, if you put such volume and 6 seconds to a sixty, it will seem incredible. Everyone is used to the fact that the station wagon is a family car, on which it is necessary to move around, so that the suspension is not damaged, as well as passengers in the cabin. Here everything is different.

Seat Leon Cupra ST 2015 Turbo Four

Seat Leon ST Cupra can be supplied with two engine options. Both of them are turbocharged 2-liter, 4 cylinders in a row, which are located on the car front transverse. According to the engineers, they managed to combine the positive aspects of direct and distributed injections, significantly increased the life and reliability of injectors and a high-pressure pump.

About how it was possible to achieve is held back. However, the figures speak for themselves. The first power unit develops 265 horsepower at 5500 revolutions. Its torque is 258 ft lb, which can be fully used at 1700 rpm. Needless to say, 16 valves per 4 cylinders, the gas distribution system is DOHC.

The second motor is stronger – 280 horsepower. It develops the same 258 ft lb and accelerates the station wagon with a mass of 3066 lbs from zero to sixty for 6.1 seconds with manual, but we speak about the transmission a little later. So, in both versions, the maximum speed rests on an electronic limiter, which, according to tradition and generally accepted standards, is set at 250 km/h (155 mph). That’s not bad anyway.

One of the two gearboxes can be fitted to the vehicle. The first is a 6-speed manual. The second is same speed robotic DSG (the name for DCT from VW). Of course, the robot does not get those pleasures of driving, as manual. A noteworthy point is the fact that the car can almost completely turn off the stabilization system, however, ESP will continue to help in any case, because the nature of the “sport station wagon” is far from being childish.
