2015 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack Is The Rare Off-Road Station Wagon

Leading automakers use the annual Geneva Motor Show to present their new products, and Volkswagen is no exception. In Switzerland, she introduced her new Volkswagen Passat Alltrack. The model is built on the basis of the Volkswagen Passat B8 Variant. It was presented earlier, at the motor show in Paris, which took place in the fall of 2014. The new model line will be sold in Europe this fall. The current premiere is the representative of the second generation of the Passat Alltrack model. The first models were launched in the series four years ago and it was built on the previous version of the platform – the Volkswagen Passat B7 Variant.

2015 Volkswagen Passat Alltrack Appearance

Predictably Alltrack received an extended set of equipment, which is designed to add confidence to the car when overcoming various road obstacles. In the first place, engineers worked hard to increase ground clearance. In comparison with the base station wagon this indicator has increased by 1 inch. In the base, the model received a 4Motion all-wheel drive system with a 5th generation Haldex clutch, impressive bumpers protected by a large plastic edge made of matte plastic, additional plastic wheel arch liners that are resistant to scratches and chips. The same overlays are installed on the thresholds and the lower parts of the doors. Additional plates made of stainless steel are used to protect the bottom and units.

All these innovations have allowed Volkswagen Alltrack to obtain not only a solid, modern appearance, but also to lay serious running ambitions. Attributes of external protection make it clear that the elements in which the car can manifest itself, it is not a flat asphalt road, but wet with rain or snow-covered roads off-road. Although we should not forget that this is not a full-fledged SUV, but rather a crossover.

Volkswagen Passat Alltrack 2015 Is Nearly the Same as Standard

If you do not look into the details, then the interior design repeats the lines of the standard Volkswagen Passat Wagon. But it is in details that the Alltrack line is recognized. Such details include pedals for aluminum and a platform for resting the left leg, inserts on the front panel, combined design of armchairs with cloth and Alcantara. Also, rugs and lining on the thresholds of stainless steel are decorated with a personalizing inscription “Alltrack”. In addition, as an option, you can count on the electric front seats, the function of massage, heating, ventilation and fully leather interior.

Comfort and spaciousness are the difference between this model and others. It will easily accommodate four adult passengers and a driver. The useful volume of the trunk is 23 cubic feet with the usual seating position and 62.8 cubic ft with the rear seats folded back.

2015 Passat Alltrack Features and Equipment

Potential buyers of Volkswagen Passat Altrack are offered to choose three different infotainment systems to choose from: Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink. These advanced systems have excellent displays in sizes of 5, 6.5 and 8 inches. An interesting feature of the second generation is the possibility of towing a trailer weighing 4850 lbs. The built-in Trailer Assist system is designed to help the driver with reversing maneuvers. It is capable of displaying pictures with predicted trajectories on the display, and independently controlling the steering wheel. Passat Alltrack boasts a comprehensive list of electronic security systems: a rollback prevention system and a descent assistance system, a traffic sign monitoring system, a driver fatigue monitoring system and speed limits, a blind zone monitoring system, and traffic control on lanes.

Passat Alltrack 2015 Power Range

The manufacturer declassified enough information about the technical side of the model so that a comprehensive analysis could be carried out. In addition to the modular platformand the 4×4 4Motion system, the Volkswagen Passat Alltrack will offer two types of gearboxes – 6-speed manual and 6-speed DSG and a wide range of powertrains. The latter is represented by five engines: two petrol and three diesel.
