Changes In New Polo GTI

Engines Available

Improvement of 1.8L turbo charged VW power unit lasts for several years. This time a lot of new technologis, in particular direct/indirect injection combination  (for optimum performance under all conditions), variable valve timing and a wastegate turbocharger electric actuator, which minimizes the turbo lag and improves manageability.

This vehicle got 190 hp, but  the torque depends on the choice of transmission.

Now we are given a option of manual or automatic transmission. As a seven-speed robotized DSG gearbox is not able to withstand this torque, as automatic six-band gearbox , Volkswagen had to change it. In this case, a car with a manual gearbox produces 236 lb-ft of torque at 1500 – 4500 rpm, while the DSG is 184 lb-ft, in the range of 1250 – 5300 rpm

 

0-60 Times and Performance

Good results for both types of transmission – sprint to 100km/h in 6.7 sec and top speed – 234.96 km/H. DSG allows to reduce fuel consumption by up to 4.67 l/100km, greater than six-auto, with a  rate of 4.99 l/100km.

We found that the choice of six-speed gearbox is a selection of enthusiasts. On the road it is more universal, gives good acceleration, moves faster, while the DSG takes more time. When you squeeze the pedal speed on a sixth gear at 105 km/h, there is an increase in torque, which you just don’t get from a smaller engine. The motor is located between the small-capacity turbo and engine of great power.

Chassis

GTI is easy to drive. Sitting on the sports suspensions, this model is lowered by 10mm front and 15 mm rear than the standard Polo and uses a completely new steering system. This is a significant improvement comparing to the previous model.

Car can be equipped with an additional set of Sport Performance, which is “Adaptive Dynamics”, and which today include almost all cars. Dampers are regulated by the “Sport” button. By pressing this button, the shock absorbers are tightened, prevent the roll and stabilizing the car and making it more comfortable on the roads. It also adds extra weight to the steering, which helps to reduce noise in the car. This quality kit is worth £ 245.
