New Flaghsip From GM Is 2016 Cadillac CT6

By

At the international auto show in New York, which opened the door for visitors in early April 2015, Cadillac brought its main novelty of last years – a full-size sedan with the alphanumeric name CT6, which topped the model range of the premium American brand.

Designed practically from zero the car is called to compete with such world grandees as Mercedes-Benz S-class, Audi A8 and BMW 7-Series and is capable of bragging of progressive technics, effective design and a wide set of the modern equipment. Only in January 2016, the serial production of the Cadillac CT6 started at the Detroit plant (it reached the market in March), as in July an updated version of the sedan appeared to the public, which received small external changes, an improved multimedia complex and new colors of the body painting .

New design language

In the exterior of the Cadillac CT6 there are all the “family” features of the American brand, but the flagship identity in it can be traced instantly – the car looks chic, graceful and incredibly beautiful. In front, the sedan looks at the world with spectacular lighting equipment with futuristic “blades” of daytime running lights surrounding the chrome-plated “shield” of the radiator grille, and behind it flaunts “faceted” forms with beautiful lights and a quartet of pipes of the exhaust system. The high status is emphasized by the classic “limousine” silhouette with a long hood, expressive “sides” and graceful wheel disks.

Executive interior

The interior of the Cadillac CT6 attracts attention with its luxurious design, an abundance of modern “bells and whistles” and an exquisite combination of high-end materials (natural leather, expensive wood, aluminum, carbon fiber and very slightly soft plastics). The digital combination of instruments looks elegant and provides a huge amount of information, and the impressive steering wheel features high functionality. At the present-day center console, the focus is on the 10.2-inch touchscreen of infotanment complex, and the management of the climate control is placed in a separate unit with mostly touch buttons.

The driver and front passenger in the executive sedan are provided chic chairs with a well-developed profile and electric adjustment (optionally also with ventilation, heating and massage function).

In the back seats, there are two separate adjustable seating places with a large reserve of vital space and an armrest in the center (for an additional payment there is still an individual climate controls, a massager and a multimedia center with two 10-inch monitors). The cargo compartment of the Cadillac CT6 is quite roomy (although it does not claim records), it accepts up to 15.2 cu ft of baggage in the unfolded form. Under the raised floor, a niche is organized in whicharehere is a compact spare wheel and a standard set of tools.

Technical aspects

CT6 is based on a new platform, which assumes a classic layout (engine front, driving wheels at the rear). On the front axle of the car there is an independent multi-lever suspension with aluminum components, and in the rear part there is a five-lever system with pivoting devices and the dynamic wheelbase effect. In the standard trim sedan is equipped with adaptive shock absorbers Magnetic Ride Control with magnet fluid, through which an electric current passes.

For the flagship Cadillac CT6 GM has prepared three gasoline engines, which perform their work in conjunction with the 8-speed automatic transmission. In the initial version the car is equipped with driving wheels of the rear axle, and the rest is relying on the system of an automatically activated all-wheel drive via multi-disc clutch.

Standard Cadillac CT6 is filled with a 2.0-liter inline four with variable valve timing technology, twin-scroll turbocharger, 16-valve timing, forged crankshaft and direct fuel supply generating 265 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 295 ft lb of maximum torque at 3000-4500 rpm.

Intermediate modification of the large sedan is released the atmospheric engine LGX in volume of 3.6 liters, which has six V-shaped cylinders, an aluminum block with a head-mounted exhaust manifold, direct gasoline injection and a variable valve timing function, under certain conditions approaching the Atkinson cycle. Its output includes 335 hp at 6800 rpm and 283 ft lb of torque at 5300 rpm.

And finally, the most strong versions of the four-door are equipped with a V-shaped six cylinder with a displacement of 3.0 liters with two low-inertia turbochargers, a direct injection system, an intercooler integrated in the intake manifold, variable gas distribution phases and a start/stop system. The top engine in peak generates 404 HP at 5700 rpm and 399 ft lb of torque at 2500-5100 rpm. The 404 HP Cadillac CT6 accelerates to sixty in 5.7 seconds.
