2016 Hyundai Santa Fe interior, release date, changes


The Hyundai Santa Fe is a 5-door 5- or 7-seat mid-size SUV designed by South Korean auto producer and assembling at Kia factory in USA, Georgia. It is available in two variants – 5-seater Sport and 7-seater with slightly different exterior design.

The exact date of the car debut is not known yet. There is a speculation that the restyled crossover will appear to the public in the third or fourth quarter of 2015.

For Hyundai Santa Fe 2016 we doesn’t expect some major changes in the appearance of the car. The maximum that will be done to give it a fresh appearance is updated headlights and taillights, fog lights, and a slightly revised design of front and rear bumpers.

An updated version of the 2016 model year crossover will receive an improved interior design, it means not only redrawing of the design itself, but also the improvement of the materials used.

Almost nothing is known about technical innovations of the new Hyundai Santa Fe. There is speculation that engine lineup of the restyled 2016 model year Hyundai Santa Fe will be increased thanks to the introduction of hybrid e-4WD system. The engine, which gasoline fueled, would drive the wheels on the front axis. The electric motor would drive the rear axle. Korean car maker also wants to improve the current engine and gearbox lineup. In order to reduce fuel consumption of engines, as well as reduce CO2 emissions into the atmosphere.

Current generation of Santa Fe is available for US market with 3 different engines. Sport version (5-seats) is available only with 4-cylinder engines – 2.4L producing 190 hp or turbocharged 2.0L with 264 hp. 7-seater equipped by 3.3L natural aspirated V6 with the output of 290 horsepower. All engines combined only with 6-speed automatic gearbox. Both FWD and AWD layout is available.

Hyundai Santa Fe 2016 interior

Unlike other car makers, Hyundai seriously approached the restyling of interior. Compared with the previous version there are many new items. Designers have listened to the comments and negative feedback to the previous version and created interior that will appeal to many. As soon as you sit in the car a hand is laid on the shift knob. It differs from the previous version and more like a lever for the helicopter, it is as comfortable and small.

Now driver can independently adjust the power steering system, power seats in the new Santa Fe have memory function, so you might save seats position and apply it any time. It is very convenient if you are not the only driver of a car. Climate control is available in all versions as well as parking assistant and heated steering wheel, rear view camera is also included.

The central console in the interior is well-made, on top of it is the touch screen, the buttons are at the bottom. It is large and have light indicators.

2016 Hyundai Santa Fe review

The first part which is noticeable in the new Hyundai Santa Fe is a new grille. On the updated version of SUV it took a diamond shape. Headlights get to Hyundai Santa Fe front wings and made in the shape of a polygon. You can notice the protection for the crankcase below, which blend well with the overall design of the car.

LED lamps are everywhere, both in headlights and taillights. There have also been added the LED turn signal on exterior mirrors that are automatically turning on when you change the direction. The side view shows the exterior doors with special contours. The overall shape of the body was updated to improve aerodynamics.

Wheel arches is also noticeable, the rims with the size up to 19” could easily fit in. The customer can choose the size of the rims. In the rear view you could note a new bumper and double exhaust pipe made of special corrosion resistant material.

2016 Hyundai Santa Fe SE

Hyundai Santa Fe SE is the most popular trim level for 7-seat version of the car. It is available both FWD and AWD. Has 18-inch alloy wheels, rearview camera, keyless entry, climate control for all 3 rows and many other features, including premium audio system for extra charge.

Hyundai Santa Fe brand history

The first generation of the model was released in 2001 and stay in production till 2006. The first gen was a massive hit for Hyundai in US market. Despite criticism from journalists, it became a best seller in US. It was facelifted in 2005.

The second generation Santa Fe got completely different design and assembled in two US factories, in Alabama, Montgomery and Georgia, West Point. In 2008 second generation Santa Fe got into top 10 vehicle rating by Customer Reports. The third generation Santa Fe became available in 2012 and is assembling in Georgia.
