2016 Mercedes GLC Is New Compact SUV

If you are looking for a new SUV, something of a luxurious nature, Mercedes-Benz has a special treat for you in 2016. Smaller, higher-class SUV’s are very popular right now, and the top vehicle manufacturers have taken notice.

Mercedes will be offering their state-of-the-art GLC, a compact SUV with a dynamic new design, to the market by the end of this year. It will come standard with many features to assist drivers as well as a 7-inch stack display in the middle, and Bluetooth.

You can also choose from additional options such as:

  • Burmester audio system;
  • Navigation;
  • Sunroof;
  • hands-free liftgate.

Some may also prefer leather to the standard leatherette for the vehicle’s upholstery. Without a doubt the 2016 Mercedes Benz GLC SUV should make quite an impact on the marketplace this fall! The main rivals for the new GLC in US market might be Acura RDX, and upcoming 2016 Infiniti QX30.

2016 Mercedes GLC When to Expect On Sale

Dealers are expecting to have the 2016 model year Mercedes-Benz GLC-Class available near the end of 2015. Mid-November is probably the most reasonable estimation regarding the release date. In the USA, the GLC 300 and the GLC 300 4MATIC will be the initial offerings, with other models being released later on. You can choose from 9 standard metallic paint jobs, or step “outside the box” a bit with finishes such as Diamond White, Cardinal Red, and MAGNO Dakota Brown. There will also be specialized packages like the Night Package to accommodate different personalities and tastes. I don’t think it will fit down the chimney, but the GLC by Mercedes will definitely be a gift idea worth considering for the approaching holiday season!

Mercedes GLC 2016 Specifications

There is not a lot of information available at this time on specifications. We do, however, know that the Mercedes-Benz GLC interior dimensions have increased slightly over the previous GLK. Passengers can enjoy 2.2 inches of additional legroom in the back, and 2.2 inches of extra shoulder and elbow space in the front. The cargo area is reported to be a little bit larger as well. It will also come with a 2.0-liter, 4-cylinder engine providing about 241 horsepower. Since the manufacturers have utilized aluminum, high and ultra-high strength steel, and plastic for the vehicle’s body, along with implementing strategies to reduce the weight of the suspension and transmission casing, the GLC weighs about 176 pounds less than the GLK. While we don’t have exact numbers yet for fuel economy, the smaller engine and lighter overall weight should lessen the amount of gas burned in your travels.

Price Tag

Prices for the Mercedes 2016 GLC will start very close to the previous GLK tag. They will begin at just under $40,000, and climb closer to $60,000 for the models that are fully loaded. Total cost will also vary depending on which options you choose and as Mercedes adds more models to the line. It’s okay to get excited, though, as the 2016 Mercedes Benz GLC SUV promises to make a big splash in the pool of heavy competition!
