Porsche 911 GT3 RS Designed With Innovative Features

At the motor show in Geneva, 2015 debuted the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS in the body of 991. The car is built on the basis of the standard 911 GT3, but it turned out to be more powerful, lighter and faster than it.

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, more than ever, blurs the border between a sports car for ordinary roads and a racing car. It contains a maximum of racing technologies, which are only possible at the moment in the 911 with a permit for operation on public roads.

Large-scale modifications in the field of drive, aerodynamics and lightweight design further increase the dynamic potential compared with the 911 GT3. And although the 911 GT3 RS always in its class set the tone on the ring race track, the fifth generation of the Porsche sports car sets new dimensions for competitors.

What is Different?

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS (2015-2016) can be distinguished from the ventilation slots in the front fenders, the modified rear bumper, the original wing and the extended rear fenders with air intakes.

The innovative roof is made of magnesium, front wings, front and back covers made of carbon fiber, other lightweight components are also made of alternative materials. Due to this, the RS model is about ten kilograms lighter than the 911 GT3, even despite the wider back body of the 911 Turbo. In addition, the lightweight roof reduces the center of gravity of the sports car and thus further improves its already outstanding indicators of lateral dynamics.

Racing Interior

At the same time, the interior of the coupe almost completely repeats that on the standard version of the GT3 and flaunts sports seats with a carbon fiber base, carbon inserts and upholstered Alcantara steering wheel, ceiling and door panels.

Same Engine as Before

The new Porsche 911 GT RS (2015-2016) received a 4.0-liter naturally aspirated boxer “six” with a power output of 500 “horses” and develops a maximum torque of 339 ft lb (the same was on the old 911 GT3 RS 4.0).

The motor is exclusively motorized in conjunction with the 7-band robotic PDK transmission with two clutches, and the base equipment includes an electronically-locked differential, the Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus active distribution system and a fully-controlled chassis, both on the original GT3.

Faster Than Carrera GT

From a place to a sixty Porsche 911 (991) GT3 RS accelerates in 3.3 seconds, up to 124 MPH – for 10.9, and the top speed reaches 199 MPH. The circle on the North loop of the Nürburgring coupe overcomes in 7 minutes and 20 seconds, which is 9 seconds faster than Carrera GT supercar and five seconds longer than the result of the current GT3. Howerver, the former GT2 RS was there for two seconds faster.
