2017 Audi S5 Received New Sportback Version

By

The charged modification of the “five-door coupe” of the second generation – the S5 Sportback – first appeared to the general public in the beginning of September 2016 during the online presentation, and at the end of the month car checked-up in the Paris. In comparison with its predecessor, liftback not only tried on a more effective “outfit” and radically redecorated interior, but also enlarged in size and became a little more powerful.

A couple of doors more

To distinguish the second generation Audi S5 Sportback from the basic model is quite simple: in front, the liftback is distinguished by a fanged bumper and double bars of the radiator grille, and on the side it can be recognized by original wheels and mirrors with silver hulls. But the most obvious clues are from behind – it’s an imitation of a diffuser in the bumper and a pair of exhaust “double-barreled” pipes.

Sports Identity

In the cabin to identify the Audi S5 Sportback 2nd generation you can only see a small nuance – the steering wheel with a chopped bottom, the original version of the virtual cockpit, the “S5” logos, the wide use of aluminum, leather and Alcantara and sports front seats with a diamond-shaped stitching .

On the other parameters, a complete resemblance to the usual A5 – premium design, high-quality finishing materials, magnificent assembly, five-seat layout.

And, of course, the trunk volume varies from 16.9 cu ft to 65.9 cubic feet.

V6 power

In the engine compartment of the “charged” Audi S5, a petrol 3.0-liter V6 engine with an aluminum block, a double-flow turbocharger, a 24-valve timing system, a direct injection system and a timing mechanism for inlet timing are concealed. It has 354 horsepower at 5400-6400 rpm and 368 cu ft of torque at 1370-4500 rpm. The motor is assisted by an 8-speed “ZF” automatic transmission and a all-wheel drive quattro with a Torsen center differential that defaults to 40% of the torque on the front axle and 60% on the rear axle.

On the run, the Audi S5 Sportback is quite agile: the five-door could go 155 mph, overcoming the first sixty after 4.7 seconds. In the combined cycle it consumes around 30 mpg. Structurally, the “S-version” is not much different from the standard model – it is based on the MLB evo platform with a two-lever front and five-link rear suspensino. By default the car is equipped with an adaptive electromechanical power steering and ventilated disks of all wheels. The signs of the “charged” five-door are more “clamped” suspension and powerful brakes with six-piston calipers on the front axle.

Already in the base version the car will receive at least: front and side airbags, two-zone climate control, premium audio, combined interior trim, sports front seats, 18-inch rims, advanced multimedia system and a bunch of other modern chips.
