The Germans from BMW will release a new, the seventh generation of premium 5-series sedan, which according to preliminary data, will receive the designation G30. Currently, the new BMW 5-Series passes the test run on the autobahn in Germany and on the race track “Nürburgring Nordschleife”, as usual, the test prototype “dressed” in a tight camouflage.

With the change of generations, the car has become lighter to nearly 220 lbs thanks to the widespread use in the construction of high-strength steel, aluminum, and magnesium. The curb weight of the base version of the car is 3395 lbs.

The 5-series will be equipped with a system of autonomous control, able not only to follow the other cars in the stream, and overtake them, but also to send information to other BMW. The car is also able to search for a parking space and park itself in almost any parking lot.
Immediately at the start of the sales M Sport version will be available with an aerodynamic body kit, Shadowline option, lowered sports suspension, 19-inch wheels, three-spoke steering wheel and special interior trim.

At the start of sales, in Europe the sedan will be offered in one of four versions: diesel 4-cylinder 520d (2.0L, 190 hp), diesel 530d (3.0L, 265 hp), turbocharged gasoline 530i (2.0L, 252 hp) and 540i with a row I6 (3.0 liters, 340 hp). All these versions can be bought with rear or all-wheel drive. Transmission – 8-speed automatic for all versions except the 520d – it has a 6-speed manual.
In the future versions range will be expanded by M550i with a 4.4-liter V8 rated at 462 hp and standard all-wheel drive (faster than the current M5 – 4 seconds to sixty). The second car is a hybrid BMW 530e, equipped with a 252-HP unit (internal combustion engine + electric motor). Fully electric mode range in this modification will be 30 miles (45 km), the speed in this mode is limited to a mark of 87 mph (140 km/h).
