2017 Model Year 5-series From BMW Has Officially Presented

By

German company BMW on October 13, 2016 officially presented to the world public the seventh generation of its most popular sedan – the 5-Series model with the factory designation G30.

If in terms of design the car “just” evolved – becoming similar to the flagship 7-series, then on the part of the technology it produced a real revolution – that was slightly heard in dimensions, received everything from the same car, and also borrowed has a number of newest electronic systems.

Like a 7-series

Outside, the 7th gen BMW 5-Series is a real athlete in an expensive suit, demonstrating a stern, powerful, sporty look and harmonious proportions. In the appearance of four-doors successfully combine elegance, solidity and healthy aggression, from which perspective do not look.

Large “nostrils” of the radiator grille, fused with frowning headlights, slanted blocks of stylish lamps, developed plastic bumpers, a dynamic and solid silhouette with perfectly folded sidewalls – looks like the car exactly as it should be a premium sedan.

Typical BMW Inside

Inside the BMW 5-Series is a typical modern representative of the Bavarian brand with instantly recognizable front panel architecture. The interior of the car “hits on the spot” with elegant, refined and luxurious design, impeccable level of performance and premium finishing materials, including natural wood, magnificent leather and aluminum.

A three-spoke multi-rudder with a well-developed terrain, a laconic and extremely informative instrument panel, a noble central console with a 10.25-inch screen of the iDrive system and perfectly assembled audio and climate units – the car’s decoration is excellent in all respects.

The front seats of the 5-series of the 7th generation and there is nothing to blame for – a successful profile with perfectly developed sidewalls, optimum packing rigidity and wide intervals of numerous electric adjustments. Three adults can sit on the rear couch of the adjusted form, but only the passenger in the middle will inconvenience the acting floor tunnel.

The trunk of the BMW 5 Series, in standard form, holds 18.7 cu ft of load, but its configuration is far from perfect. The back of the rear seats is divided into three parts (in the proportion 40:20:40) and is added to increase the volume (but does not form a completely flat surface), and under the floor are a repair kit and the necessary tool.

Powerful and Efficient Engines

The gasoline versions of the 530i and 530i xDrive are equipped with a twin turbocharged turbo-quater, direct power supply and variable valve timing Valvetronic, the potential of which is 252 HP at 5200-6500 rpm and 258 ft lb of torque at 1450- 4800 rpm. Top speed of four-door does not exceed 155 MPH, the acceleration to sixty is in 6-6.2 seconds

The following versions of the 540i and 540i xDrive are equipped with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder in-line engine, turbocharger, Valvetronic system and direct fuel injection, generating 340 horsepower at 5500-6500 rpm and 332 ft lb of maximum torque at 1380-5200 rpm. With the first sixty such a machine manages for 4.8-5.1 seconds, with the same 155 MPH top speed.

Under the hood of the 520d and 520d xDrive solutions, a four-cylinder 2.0 liter unit with a Common Rail system is combined with direct injection, a turbocharger with variable geometry and a 16-valve timing system that produces 190 horsepower at 4000 rpm and 295 ft lb of torque at 1750 -2500 rpm. From the place to 60 the sedan “rushes” for 7.5-7.7 seconds, at acceleration it is limited to 144-147 MPH.

The diesel variants 530d and 530d xDrive are equipped with a 3.0-liter inline turbo equipped with a twin-stream turbocharger, 24 valves and a Common Rail in combination with a direct power supply that releases 265 HP at 4000 rpm and 457 ft lb of torque at 2000-2500 rpm. The characteristics of such a “Bavarian” are impressive: 5.4-5.7 seconds for 0-60 acceleration, a peak of possibilities at 155 MPH.

New Hi-Tech Platform

The 5-series of the seventh generation is based on a modular CLAR platform with an independent two-lever front and an original five-lever rear architecture that has two separate links instead of a large lower arm.

Optionally, the car can be equipped with adaptive shock absorbers, electronically controlled, active Dynamic Drive stabilizers and Integral Active Steering system with steering wheels on the rear. In the structure of the body of the sedan are high-strength grades of steel and aluminum (from which the hood, trunk lid, roof and rear sides of the spars are built), and the front panel bracket is made of magnesium alloy.
