Camaro ZL1 – The Red Monster Arrived


In mid-March 2016, Chevrolet showed the world the extreme version of the Camaro two-door of the latest generation with the ZL1 prefix, which traditionally became the most powerful among civilian variants.

The car was overgrown with a formidable aerodynamic body kit, which took 100 hours to test, hid a powerful V8 under the hood and got an optional 10-speed automatic. The coupe debuted in public in late March (at the international auto show in New York), and entered the market by the end of 2016.

A Real Transformer

Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 looks much more aggressive than its standard version, and the merit in this belongs to a powerful aerodynamic body kit on the perimeter of the body, a relief hood, extended wheel arches, a powerful spoiler and 20-inch disks of original design, “wrapped” in tires with a dimension of 285/30/R20 in the front and 305/30/R20 at the rear.

The length of the charged muscle car is 188.3″, and its width and height do not exceed 74.6″ and 53″, respectively. The dimension between axes is 110″.


In the Chevrolet Camaro, the ZL1 demonstrates the Recaro sports seats with a brightly developed profile, a steering wheel with cut bottom and numerous nameplates with model index.

Huge V8 Inside

In the engine compartment of the extreme version of the the sixth generation Camaro, there is gasoline V-shaped “eight” LT4 with a volume of 6.2 liters (6162 cubic centimeters) with direct fuel injection and a supercharger. It ultimately generates 650 horsepower at 6400 rpm and 640 lb ft of torque at 3600 rpm. By default, the engine works in tandem with a 6-speed manual and a rear-wheel drive transmission, and optionally with a 10-speed automatic.

With this technique, the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 picks up the sixty in 3.5 seconds, and maximally accelerates to 200-205 mph. Like the standard model, the charged coupe is built on the rear-wheel drive Alpha platform with a multi-link suspension in front and five-link in rear, as well as a rack-and-pinion steering with an electric booster.

Typically, this car is equipped with an adaptive chassis Magnetic Ride, a limited-slip differential with electronic control and a dual-mode exhaust system. The severe nature of the motor pacifies the powerful Brembo braking system with six-piston front and two-piston rear calipers.


The standard powerful coupe is equipped with front and side airbags, climate control system, multimedia center, Recaro seats, adaptive suspension, LED headlights, 20-inch wheel rims, launch controls, ESP, ABS and lots of other modern equipment.
