2017 Chevy Duramax – GMC officially announced Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks to get Duramax 2.8L turbodiesel


General Motors automobile concern has officially announced the start of sales of Chevy Colorado and GMC Canyon 2017 models, armed with the 2.8-L 4-cylinder 2.8 Duramax TurboDiesel. This plant is capable of producing 180 HP and a maximum of 500Nm torque.

2017 Chevy Duramax release date

New powerplant 2.8 Duramax TurboDiesel was officially introduced in summer 2015. However, at that time it was unclear on what exactly the cars will debut a new engine. Now General Motors has announced the start of new products sales.

At dealers, Chevrolet Colorado truck (LT and Crew Cab) and GMC Canyon (SLE, SLT and Crew Cab), equipped with new Duramax TurboDiesel 2.8-L power train will be accessible this autumn and will be offered in 2WD and 4WD versions. The difference in the cost of the vehicle equipped with the engine of 3.6 V6 will be $3,730, in favor of new items.

2017 Chevy Duramax price

Again, in the salons of American dealers Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon trucks of 2017 model year will arrive in autumn this year. Full price list of cars is not published. In the U.S. the diesel version of these trucks 2015 model year is offered at a starting price of $33,000 and $34,500 respectively.

2017 Duramax redesign

GM representatives noted that the new Duramax diesel received an upgraded direct injection and comes with a crankshaft and connecting rods made of forged steel. The piston head is made of aluminum alloy. The company says Duramax 2.8 TurboDiesel is the cleanest diesel engine in history. This was achieved through the introduction of the EGR system. In addition, the engineers managed to lower noise and vibrations, due to the use of the CPVA device (Centrifugal Pendulum Vibration Absorber). This device helps to avoid unnecessary oscillations of the diesel engine.

2017 Duramax specs

New TurboDiesel engine 2.8L Duramax develops 180 HP (@ 3400) and 500Nm torque (@ 2000). On Chevrolet Colorado and GMC Canyon 2017 model year pickups, the new installation will be combined with 6-band auto gearbox. According to an official press release, the trucks that use new engines able to tow a trailer weighing 3492kg for 2WD and 3447kg for 4WD versions.
