The previous modernization attempt by Chevrolet happened all the way back in 2014, and wasn’t a great success. Thanks (in part) to this, Chevy decided to get a little more creative with the 2017 model and satisfy those critics that said the older model wasn’t modern enough.
The new model has gone on sale in late 2016, the base model cost $29,800, close to the current model and its competitors; the Ford F-150, Toyota Tundra and GMC’s Sierra. The fully equipped Crew Cab modification with AWD and 6.2 V8 EcoTec engine boost price up to $52,000 without options.
A Mild Facelift
The main restyling of the new model has happened at the front of the vehicle, Chevrolet hope to satisfy the critics and improve sales thanks to this restyling.
The crew-cab version has four doors and a gigantic front-end (similar to the old one), the showpiece of which is the radiator grille, which stretches over most of the front of the vehicle. Just below the grille is a massive chromed bumper, providing further rugged styling as well as impact protection. To the sides of the bumper, Chevy have fitted LED fog lights.

Despite the massive size and weight of the Silverado, performance is still reasonable, even more so with the 6.2 liter V8 engine fitted. Headlights are pretty standard, and the Silverado is available in ether a double or crew-cab version, the flagship model will be badged further and have the LED rear lights fitted.
Interior Changes of Silverado
Comfortably seating five adults, the cabin is spacious and well-appointed, the interior has also undergone significant change. There is now a whole plethora of toys fitted, including the MyLink system with an 8” touch screen display.
The luxury full leather interior is complemented by the whole range of toys and gadgets; connectivity to Wi-Fi, 4G LTE, Android and Apple car play, latest generation satellite navigation, USB ports, Bluetooth and digital radio.
It also has ABS, Airbags, parking sensors and blind spot monitoring systems fitted.

While Chevrolet are still finalizing specifications, it is believed that some models will be offered with full all-wheel drive systems, improved suspension and sports exhaust.
- 4.3 Liter V6 285 BHP
- 5.3 Liter V8 355 BHP
- 6.2 Liter V8 420 BHP
The Silverado 2500HD model will also benefit from ram-air induction, through a power-scoop cut into the hood, this should see power outputs in the region of 420 BHP for the 6.2 liter V8.
The last option will work in tandem with the 8-speed automatic transmission and go only in the top-trim variant.
