Styling Changes of Sonic

The exterior of the new 2017 Chevrolet Sonic has only minor updates – it could be called a facelift. In addition to this, Sonic now looks in the same way as the other Chevy cars, especially like recently debuted new generation 2017 Chevrolet Bolt.

There is a new hood, stylish front fascia, including grille and new style headlights. Now it looks modern, just like it should be, no more cheap looking round lights. And of course new generation Chevy Sonic 2017 features LED DRL-lights, like any modern vehicle these days.2017 chevrolet sonic hatchback rear

One of the most significant change in the rear is again reffered to lights. New taillight design is original and doesn’t look boring. Rear bumper now looks more sporty, along with diffuser-like part.

The side part of the car is mostly unchanged, there are only a few different details, like lower window line and new wheels design, now available in dark chrome, in three sizes – 15, 16 and 17-inch.

And of course there is a new colors in body color palette – new 2017 Sonic will be available in 4 brand new colors – Brimstone, Cajun Red, Artic Blue and Orange Burst, the last two is metallic ones.

To sum up, now Chevrolet Sonic exterior design feels like properly Chevrolet compact car, perfectly fits to all model line-up without any compromising. It doesn’t look second-grade and cheap anymore.

Engine Range and Fuel Efficiency

In terms of engine line up, Sonic will remain unchanged. Only two versions of engines will be available, both 4-cylinder powerplants. 1.8L I4 producing 138 hp and 125 ft lb of torque as the basic option and 1.4L turbocharged engine with the same amount of power (torque figures are better though, 148 ft lb). It is strange that both engines have nearly the same amount of power, although they paired with different gearbox options. 1.8 can be equipped with 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic, while turbocharged version will have 6-speed manual, which of course leads to better fuel efficiency and performance.

Top speed of both sedan and hatchback is limited to 108 mph.

Also, look for the same fuel economy numbers as last year’s model. The 1.8-liter should return 26 mpg in the city, 35 mpg on the highway, and 30 mpg combined, while the 1.4-liter should be good for 29 mpg in the city, 40 mpg on the highway, and 33 mpg combined.

The fuel efficiency figures will also remain the same as the previous generation car. 2017 Chevrolet Sonic 1.8L will have 26 mpg in the city driving, 35 mpg in the highway and 30 mpg combined. 1.4L version will have better figures of 29/40/33 respectively, which is pretty nice.
