The debut of the new 2017 Hyundai Ioniq from Korea was held in March this year at the Geneva Motor Show. This will be the beginning of an entirely new era for Hyundai.
New Ionic based on a brand new platform which is very special – in fact allows to produce machines with different types of power units. There will be a whole series of eco-friendly cars under Ioniq brand. The most affordable is the Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid, which will be available with a parallel hybrid arrangement. After Ioniq Electric (fully electric) and PlugIn Hybrid (more battery capacity and battery charging from a household outlet) models will be released.

2017 Hyundai Ioniq release date
The release date of Hyundai Ioniq family scheduled on the last quarter of 2016 for North American market. Firstly, the hybrid version will be released, Plug-in hybrid and full electric vehicle will be available later.

The official price range is not unveiled yet, however it is expected that customers could buy 2017 Hyundai Ioniq hybrid in basic trim for less than $25,000.

The appearance of Hyundai Ioniq Hybrid is not a coincidence. The car has been clearly developed by Hyundai Motor R & D Centre, to compete with the most popular hybrid vehicle – Toyota Prius. After all, the two cars have quite a lot in common. The similarities start with the body, which has a low aerodynamic drag coefficient (Cx of 0.24), and completed the type of a hybrid powertrain.
Yet Ioniq has more stylish and harmonious external design, rather than a competitor from Japan. Front fascia really attracts: modern false radiator grille, head lamps of constricted shape and powerful bumpers with modern LED DRLs.
Car profile solid and serious, the rear part is more sporty-looking. Accurate tailgate with spoiler and stylish LED marker lamps are also draw attention.

2017 Hyundai Ioniq interior
The interior turned out to be surprisingly modern and practical. There we could see a multifunctional steering wheel, color dashboard display, power heated outside mirrors and windows, electric parking brake, dual-zone climate control, modern multimedia system with a seven-inch TFT – display (1280×720 pixels resolution). All this equipment is available on the basic trim level.
There are also available smartphone charging, heated seats, steering wheel and wiper rest area, a system of adaptive cruise control with the ability to automatically run in traffic jams, leather seats, light and rain sensors and other useful gizmos.
The interior of the car is designed for transportation of the driver and four passengers and its cargo compartment with capacity of 14.1 cubic feet of luggage (25.4 with all seats folded).

The basis of the car is the new platform. At its base it is planned to produce a lot of hybrid cars and electric vehicles under Hyundai and Kia brand. 2nd new car, which will use the new platform – the upcoming crossover hybrid Kia Niro. 2017 Hyundai Ioniq has fully independent suspension. Most parts of chasis are made of aluminum, the car has electric powersteering, all 4 wheels have disc brakes. There are also bunch of helping systems, such as ABS,EBD,BrakeAssist,and ESP.
Vehicle movement is carried out thanks to the hybrid powerplant with a 4-cylinder gasoline engine of Kappa family with 1.6 liters displacement producing 105 horsepower and 108 ft lb of torque, and electric motor, the power of which is 43.5 hp and 125 ft lb. Giving a total powerplant output of 141 hp.
Gearbox is a six-speed robotic. To help the driver there are two modes of gearbox operation – Sport and Eco. Li-ion batteries are located under the rear passenger seats and have a capacity of 1.5 kWh. It requiers 10.8 seconds for car to accelerate to 60. Maximum speed is 115 miles per hour and the average fuel consumption rate is about 58 mpg.
Company representatives assured that the new Ioniq has the most balanced suspension, sensitively tuned steering, sporty gearbox and virtually silent cabin in the segment of hybrid cars. Does the truthfulness of the information, we will be able to evaluate after the start of sales.
