Flagship 2017 Jaguar XJ Facelifted To Gain More Features

At the Frankfurt Motor Show in September 2009, Jaguar presented to the public a completely new generation of the flagship XJ sedan with the factory-labeled “X351”, which changed from its predecessor on all fronts, but its prediction took place in July at the London gallery “The Saatchi Gallery”. The car entered the European market in early 2010. In June 2015, “X-Jay” experienced restyling, the results of which were “refreshed” appearance and an increased list of equipment. Not without innovation and in the technical part – all engines were driven to the Euro-6 standards, and the diesel “six” was subjected to serious modernization, installed a new electric power steering and significantly expanded the number of electronic “assistants”.

Outwardly, the Jaguar XJ produces a strong emotional impression with its bold and decisive design and palpable elegance, and in its outlines combines the chic of a premium sedan with a pronounced sporting character. The predatory and deliberately powerful front of the flagship sedan is crowned by the frowning “look” of the LED headlamps with J-shaped navigation lights and the wide grin of the fine-meshed grille, and the graceful and monumental forage displays the spectacular LED lights all with the same J-elements and “muscular” bumper With two exhaust nozzles.

In the profile of the Jaguar XJ is perceived not as a representative sedan, but as a dynamic four-door coupe – a long, pinned to the ground body with an endless hood, sweeping roof contours falling to the rear, and huge wheels sheltered in relief arches.

2017 XJ Executive Interior

The luxurious interior of the Jaguar XJ combines the beauty of modern forms, nobility and aristocracy, and the atmosphere of exclusivity is extolled by expensive finishing materials – magnificent leather, Alcantara, natural wood and aluminum. Analog in the “British” only a stylish watch, located between the “turbines” of the ventilation deflectors in the middle of the torpedo, but the “toolbox” – a virtual one, with a 12.3-inch screen. For most other functions, an 8-inch screen of the infotainment system on the center console answers, although “traditional” buttons and “washers” manage “music” and a two-zone “climate”. It fits perfectly into the design and “fat” multi-functional steering wheel with a three-spoke design.

Standard interior of the Jaguar XJ is designed for five people, but the front seats are flawless in all versions – a comfortable profile with distinct lateral support, wide ranges of electrical adjustments, heating and ventilation. The rear of the full-size sedan is a real expanse, and in the long-bodied version – and at all the royal space, especially for the feet. Optionally, the triple sofa is changed to individual seats with all the “benefits of civilization”.

XJ 2017 Speaking Technically

For the “X-Jay” provides four engines (one of them is diesel), combined with a non-alternative 8-band “automatic” ZF with “dynamic” and “winter” modes. “Junior” installations work together with the rear-wheel drive transmission, but the “top” solutions are based on a “smart” all-wheel drive system with a multi-disk electronically controlled clutch in front. The basic unit is a gasoline inline “quartet” with a working volume of 2.0 liters, a turbocharger and a direct feed system that generates 240 horsepower at 5500 rpm and 250 ft-lb of maximum thrust at 2000-4000 rpm directed to the rear wheels. Regardless of the size of the base, up to the sixty, the full-size sedan accelerates in 7.9 seconds and reaches a maximum of 149 MPH.

It is followed by a V-shaped six-cylinder engine with 3.0 liters, made of aluminum and equipped with a drive supercharger in the collapse of the unit, direct injection and dual timing mechanisms for gas distribution. Its output is 340 horsepower at 6500 rpm and 331 ft lb of torque at 3500-5000 rpm. This “heart” breaks the British car to 60 MPH in 6.4 seconds and allows it to reach 155 MPH of top speed. The “top” power plant, available only for the executive sedan, is a 5.0-liter “eight” with a V-shaped scheme, four valves per cylinder, a supercharger with two screw shafts and direct power supplying 510 HP at 6000-6500 rpm and 340 ft-lb of torque at 2500-5550 rpm. The engine accelerates the all-wheel-drive sedan to 155 MPH, allowing it to “shoot” up to 60 in just 4.9 seconds.

Jaguar XJ also get 3.0-liter V6 diesel engine with two turbochargers connected in series, and direct injection technology, which releases into the light a herd of 300 hp at 4000 rpm and 516 ft-lb of torque at 2000 rpm. Such a car leaves behind the sixty in 6.2 seconds, and at 155 MPH it is the peak of its capabilities. The all-wheel drive on the XJ is realized according to the following scheme: the front axle is activated by means of a multi-plate clutch with electronic control built into the hull of the “machine”. Depending on the selected transmission mode and road conditions, up to 50% of thrust can go to the front, and up to 100% can be taken to the tail.

At the heart of the eighth, the Jaguar XJ is an upgraded platform from the previous generation model with a longitudinally-based motor and aluminum body (the front part is made of magnesium alloy) completely devoid of welding seams. The chassis of the car is presented by a double-link suspension in the front and a multi-link design from the rear with adaptive shock absorbers and pneumatic supports.
