New Generation Discovery Is Fully Redesigned To Become More Hi-Tech

By

The new Discovery can be safely considered revolutionary against the backdrop of the Disco SUVs of past generations: a radically new body design, a premium seven-seat interior, a fantastic range of digital equipment, an aluminum platform and a body of 85% made of winged metal, air suspension, a new generation Terrain Response system, diesel and Petrol engines, 8 automatic transmission and, of course, all-wheel drive with a two-stage distribution.

Fabulous Looking

The new Land Rover Discovery looks amazing and demonstrates a family resemblance to the luxurious Land Rover Range Rover, the democratic Land Rover Discovery Sport and the super popular Range Rover Evoque, but with a lot of original design chips. At the same time, the new version of Discovery looks bright against the background of the competitors of the new Volvo XC90 and Audi Q7.

The body of the new Land Rover Discovery has lost its predecessor’s angularity and looks more like a dynamic and sporty crossover, rather than an SUV, but with patency in the novelty it’s full order.

A wide application in the construction of the chassis and body of aluminum allowed to reduce the curb weight of the new generation of Disco by 480 kg in comparison with the angular and completely steel precursor, stopping at the figures of 4916 lbs (petrol 3.0-liter V6 with the compressor) and in 5081 lbs (3.0 -litre diesel V6). Well, the lightest diesel Land Rover Discovery with a four-cylinder 180-horsepower TD4 engine – only 4627 lbs.

Spacious Interior

The seven-seater salon (option) is fully valued, luxurious, high-quality and functional. Representatives of the company of the manufacturer assure that the last third row can comfortably accommodate even tall passengers. The Intelligent Seat Fold Super Seat Folding System allows you to fold the second row in 15 seconds and the third in 12 seconds.

Interestingly, this procedure can be done not only with a button in the trunk or a key on the central rack in the cabin, but also with the help of the central display and even remotely using the InControl Remote application, pre-installed on the smartphone. Seats of the second row move along the interior to 160 mm, providing an optimal supply of space in both the second and third rows.

Mostly Diesel

Motor line of the new generation Discovery consists of diesel and gasoline engines, working in pairs exclusively with the 8 automatic transmission ZF. Suspension is fully independent, double-lever in front and Integral Link multi-lever rear, power steering electric, however, like parking brake. The British SUV is equipped as standard with all-wheel drive in two versions: simple with a single-stage dispenser and more advanced with a two-speed transfer box (optional locking rear differential).
