2017 Lexus GX exterior
The exterior of the GX 460 is a contradiction; useful off-road styling and functionality, coupled with the stylish Lexus sophistication.
The 2017 GX 460 will be built upon the Prado 150 platform, the same as its predecessor.
At the rear of the car, you’ll see a similar style to the Toyota Land Cruiser Prado, but that is where any similarity stops; the GX 460 is very Lexus, incorporating styling references from the rest of the Lexus range, there is no mistaking the manufacturer of this vehicle.

2017 Lexus GX interior
The 2017 Lexus GX interior is all about space, luxury, refinement and technology. The sheer number of buttons throughout the cabin; doors, steering wheel, center console and instrument panel makes the interior resemble something like an aircraft.
There is a ‘Mark Levinson’ surround sound media system, 9 speakers (17 in the flagship) and 330 Watts, a slimline 8.5” touchscreen which slides out from the media system and there is an option of media screens for the second row of seats; a 7” screen fitted in the rear of the headrest.
The upholstery is fine leather with large contrast stitching, and the overall quality of the interior is improved with inlaid mahogany inserts. The upper and lower parts of the dash are separated horizontally, these include the vents for the climate control system.

The basic equipment fitted is quite impressive; three-zone climate control, heated seats, front seat ventilation, electrically adjustable seating, steering column and pedal box, ten airbags, front & rear park assist and electric sunroof. There are options for 5 or 7 seats, but it must be said that the third row isn’t that practical.
2017 Lexus GX engine specs
Lexus GX 460 2017 comes with only one diesel power unit:
Under the hood you’ll find a V8, 4.6 liter engine, producing a maximum of 297 BHP with 329 lb/ft of torque @ 3,500 RPM.
The engine is equipped with the Lexus VVT-I; an intelligent variable valve timing system, this helps with both power and gas mileage – it means that the big Lexus can hit 60 MPH in 8.3 seconds, but top speed is electronically limited (in the U.S. market) to just 113 MPH.
The wheels are driven by a 6-speed auto transmission, with electronic control; in normal driving conditions, the power is split 60:40 with a rear bias.
The intelligent sensors continuously monitor the road surface, and adjusts the dynamics of the car accordingly. When off-road, the driver has the choice of four optimized settings; rocks, bumps, gravel or sand.
