The CX-5 is the mid-size SUV, designed to be competitor to the most popular vehicles of this type – Toyota RAV4, Ford Escape, Honda CR-V. Unlike it, the CX-5 has more sport-oriented design and powertrains, and feels more like ordinary car, rather than utility crossover.

At first sight in the interior there are visible changes to the center console, which has become simpler and more stylish. The control unit for the climate system and a new generation multimedia system have been integrated into the console. The outdoor tunnel has acquired a modern shape and no longer stands out for its archaism. The vents of the ventilation system have the original chrome frame. Optionally, the buyer can choose a decorative effect for the front panel – the choice of metal, aluminum, wood, or just gloss black.

The interior has undergone significant changes – there are a three-spoke steering wheel, a 4.6-inch display on the dashboard, and a 7-inch screen in the center console, as well as Head-Up Display. It is noteworthy that the engineers decided to reconsider the location of the gearbox selector – the manual lever was raised by 1.5″, while the automatic up to 2.3″.

In addition, Mazda MZD technology enables the integration of a smartphone or other gadget in the car’s entertainment system. 2017 CX-5 is equipped with a Bose audio system with 10 speakers with function of suppression of external noise.

Wish the CX5 would have a remote power rear door opener option.

    • yesyoumay .

Maybe as an option but personally I wouldn’t want to pay for it.

    • yeahimcool

it’s not in the 2016 model year but hopefully they’ll offer it in the 2017 model year

  • yesyoumay .

“Both powerplants have turbocharged versions” Turbo 2.5 L will be offered in CX5? What countries are you referring to? In the U.S. you can only get not turbo in both engines. If true here this is definitely a major change!

    Still no power liftgate?

  • brklynmind

Anyone in 2017 buying a manual transmission is obviously “into” cars/driving. I. E. Wouldnt want to get a stripped vehicle. Ignoring this makes Np sense. Offer a top of line manual and even make manual an extra cost option. Companies would sell more manuals and make money for their trouble. Can not figure out why this obvious reality is missed.
