2017 Skoda Kodiaq – New SUV Possible Come To The US

By

Skoda recently announced the arrival of the Kodiaq, a full size 7-set SUV that will go head-to-head with the Hyundai Santa Fe. However, at this moment in time, Skoda won’t be releasing it any time soon in the U.S.; they haven’t sold vehicles there for over 50 years.

Skoda’s chief said “If we do decide to compete in the U.S., we will have one chance to make a first impression. We feel that if we were there now, the Kodiaq would be a home-run car”.
This will be Skoda’s first attempt at an SUV style auto.

2017 Skoda Kodiaq Release date

Skoda won’t be bringing this SUV to the U.S. just yet, but they are at least considering it. The 2017 Skoda Kodiaq was first shown at the 2016 Paris Auto Show and is available (in certain countries), right now.

2017 Skoda Kodiaq release date: The USA – unknown; already available in Europe

2017 Skoda Kodiaq Price

In the UK, the prices start at £21,495 for the base model, and rise to £30,895 for the fully loaded flagship. If those prices convert directly to dollars, we’d see $27,177 for the base model and $39,063 for the flagship.

2017 Skoda Kodiaq Specs

The 2017 Skoda Kodiaq is available in four trim levels – S, SE, SE-L and Edition. The base model S comes with a 1.4 liter TSI Turbo engine with 123 BHP and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission. There are a number of other engine options, including a diesel, but whether that would make it to the U.S. remains to be seen.

Other engines include: 1.4 liter TSI 148 BHP, 2.0 liter TSI 178 BHP, 2.0 liter diesel with 148 or 187 BHP. It’s worth noting that the 2.0 liter gas motor is mated to a 7-speed DSG auto transmission and has full four-wheel drive.

2017 Skoda Kodiaq Equipment

Standard equipment even on the base model includes LED Daytime Running Lights, 17” alloy wheels, touchscreen infotainment system fitted with Smartlink tech, DAB satellite radio, keyless GO, front assist and a leather trimmed steering wheel; it’s not a bad level of equipment for the basic version.

2017 Skoda Kodiaq Design

Skoda have really upped their game over the last decade or so, what you’ll be getting is a smart, 7-seater SUV, trimmed well with a good level of equipment. Expect to see good warranties attached to them as well; Skoda are going up-market and taking their customers with them.
