The third generation Toyota Yaris (XP130) was first unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show back in 2011. Then in 2014, the Yaris was updated again; different exterior, interior and lots of new equipment.
Let’s see is there any changes for the 2017 model year car.
2017 Toyota Yaris Configurations
The 2017 Toyota Yaris is available in three trim levels, 3-door or 5-door hatchback, total 5 modifications. Yaris hasn’t changed for the 2017 model year, expect the slight price increase. It is the most affordable Toyota on the market, so you couldn’t expect much from affordable price.
2017 Toyota Yaris L
Yaris L is the very basic trim, available in 3-door or 5-door body, with either 5-speed automatic or 4-speed automatic. For 5-door version only AT is possible. It has traction control, 9 airbags, steel wheels, power locks. Despite the price, it also has quite advanced 6.1″ touchscreen audio system with Bluetooth connectivity.
2017 Toyota Yaris LE
Just like the basic trim, LE could be ordered in both bodies, but only with automatic transmission. It has black grille with chrome inserts, 15-inch alloy wheels. Inside you could find tilt steering wheel with audio controls, cruise control, remote keyless entry.
2017 Toyota Yaris SE
SE stands for Sport Edition, it is available only as a 5-door hatchback, could offered with manual transmission as well as automatic. It has all features of LE plus more like a performance tweaks: better brakes (ventilated in front, disc in rear, instead of drum), rear spoiler, 16-inch alloy wheels of fancy design, sporty fabric upholstery for seats, leather-trimmed steering wheel, floor-mounted gear lever.

2017 Toyota Yaris redesign
The Yaris looks fashionable; it has always been one of those models that looks cute enough to sell but not too ‘girly’. Perhaps the feature that most people recognize today is the x-shaped front end design.

The car is available in three body styles – five-door or hatchback, which are indistinguishable from each other.
- 155.5” (3950 mm) in length
- 66.7” (1695 mm) in width
- 60.2” (1530 mm) in height
Wheelbase is a compact 98.8” (2510 mm) and the ground clearance (model dependent) ranges from between 5.5” (140 mm) to 6.1” (155 mm).

The interior of the 2017 Yaris is stylish and sleek, much more so than you’d expect from such a compact car; it will easily seat four adults.
The luggage compartment holds 286 liters, but once the back seats are folded flat, that can be increased to 768 liters.
2017 Toyota Yaris engine specs
There will be four different gasoline engines in the new 2017 Toyota Yaris:
- Three-cylinder engine, 1.0 liter producing 69 horsepower, and 70 lb/ft
- Four-cylinder, 1.3-1.5 liter, producing 99 to 106 horsepower and from 92 lb/ft to 102 lb/ft
- Under the hood of the diesel is a 1.4-liter engine producing 90 BHP and 151 lb/ft of torque
The cars will have the options of 5 or 6-speed manual transmission, a four-speed auto and a CVT system.

2017 Toyota Yaris base and suspension
This Yaris is of course front-wheel drive with a transverse power plant, and uses McPherson struts at the front and semi-independent torsion beams on the rear.
Brakes are discs at the front, drums at the rear and include ABS and ESP.
