2017 Volvo V40 Renewed, New Front End

The Volvo V40 name was re-introduced (in Europe) back in 2012, and Volvo have recently unveiled the new V40 at the Geneva Motor Show. It hasn’t yet made it to the American coastline, but given that the V40 is the best-selling Volvo in Europe and the 2nd most popular Volvo globally, you’d be fairly safe in dropping a bet on it reaching the American shores – Volvo say that it may introduce it to America in 2018. We think that it’s likely they’ll do a soft launch in the states sometime in 2017. The car is positioned one step lower than XC40 and upcoming 2018 Volvo XC60.

2017 Volvo V40 Release date

The 2017 Volvo V40 is already in the dealerships of Europe, but if you’re waiting for it to reach the U.S., it may be a while!

2017 Volvo V40 Price

The equivalent pricing of the Euro in to Dollars, would mean a starting price of around $30,000. So when Volvo do eventually ship it here, that will be the approximate price that we’ll be looking at, perhaps add a little extra for inflation and taxes.

2017 Volvo V40 Redesign and Changes

Given that Volvo are renowned for their safety systems and technology, let’s list some of the equipment that you’d find fitted; CleanZone air filtration for the cabin, IntelliSafe, City Safety Collision Avoidance, Collision Avoidance with Full Auto Braking, Pedestrian & Cycle Detection, Blind Spot Information System, Lane Keeping Aid (with steering), Cross Traffic Alert, Road Sign Information Technology System, Adaptive Cruise Control and rather uniquely, a pedestrian airbag system.

There isn’t actually that much to differentiate between the outgoing and incoming V40, at least not visually. Volvo have taken the easy path of updating the front end; new LED lighting featuring the signature ‘Thor’s Hammer’ look and an updated front grille. Other than a few different color schemes, that really is about it visually (and very little mechanically as well to be honest).

2017 Volvo V40 Specs

Under the hood, there will be a choice of gas and diesel engines (although whether Volvo will ship the V40 to the U.S. with a diesel remains to be seen). The base model will have the T2 gas engine, producing 122 PS (120 BHP), there will also be the T3 – 152 PS (150 BHP) gas motor and then a D2 and D3 diesel motor, producing 120 PS (118 BHP) and 150 PS (148 BHP) respectively.

2017 Volvo V40 Interior

The interior has always been a good place to be, the updated version will have aluminum accents for panel inlays; Milled Black, Black Grid Aluminum and Stealth Aluminum. Expect the usual array of driving equipment to be fitted.
