After the recent debut of the new Audi Q7, we are expecting to see the emergence of other, more compact crossovers from Audi. The first one expected will be the 2018 Audi Q5, which will be a similar specification to the Q7, but more compact.
The engine range will be lifted directly from the A4 model range, and will have both gasoline and diesel options.
Competition is tough though; BMW X3, Mercedes GLK and the Porsche Macan.
2018 Audi Q5 release date
Although the Q5 is undergoing testing on the open roads and with little camouflage, we aren’t expecting to see the official release of the new model until at least the last quarter of 2017.

2018 Audi Q5 price
Details, including pricing haven’t been released yet, we are expecting announcements at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2017. However, thanks to a newer and updated platform, prices are expected to rise, the base model should cost around $43,000 for the new 2017 Audi Q5.
2018 Audi Q5 redesign
The new mid-size crossover from Audi will be styled along the lines of the larger Q7 model; same narrow headlights and hexagonal grille, which Audi are incorporating on all their new designs, although the rear end may change slightly.
The interior is designed in the style A4 and Q7, with a new front panel, all-display dashboard in higher trims. It also will have updated infotainment MMI system with CarPlay, Android Auto, touchpad. There will be new, higher quality materials and finishes.

2018 Audi Q5 specs
The new Q5 will be built on the MLB Evo latest platform, which is already being used in the new generation A4. The use of a new lightweight platform, with extensive use of aluminum, allows the SUV to reduce the weight by 225 lbs.
It is expected that the model will receive all the same powertrains as the 2016 A4. Namely, 4- and 6-cylinder engines.
It will consist of 1.4 TFSI engine producing 148 HP (for Europe only); 2.0 turbocharged TFSI engine of 2-liter displacement with 252 HP; another turbocharged 2-liter producing 220 HP.
Six-cylinder modifications are unknown yet. The appearance of diesel versions in United States market is unknown as well.
There will also be at least two high-performance versions: gasoline and diesel one, under the SQ5 and SQ5 TDI designation respectively. The latest one will produce 354 HP – and will consist of a V6 engine with a unique electric-powered supercharger.

2018 Q5 hybrid
There is a speculation that new 2018 Audi Q5 will be available as a hybrid. It will consist of the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine producing 252 HP, in cooperation with 109 HP electric motor which has nearly the same amount of torque as a gasoline engine. So, the hybrid car is promising to be not only a fuel efficient but also a pretty fast.
