2018 Audi SQ5 Is The Ultimate Diesel Monster

When Audi introduced the SQ5, it was hailed as something special, something more than the average SUV; packed in all sorts of technology, refinement, reliability and of course, performance. Audi seem to be developing exactly the sort of vehicles that people want, including bags of get up and go.

The SQ5 has everything going for it, and for what you get, it’s reasonably priced.

Audi haven’t yet released much information about the updated model, but this is what our industry insiders are telling us.

2018 Audi SQ5 Release date

Although Audi haven’t confirmed it, we based our information from current production schedules and what we do know; we believe that the new 2018 Audi SQ5 will hit the dealers forecourts late in 2017, possibly around September.

2018 Audi SQ5 release date: late 2018

2018 Audi SQ5 Price

The current SQ5 starts at $53,300, and even allowing for the fact that Audi will be updating the new model, we don’t think that the market will stand much more, this means that the starting price should be in the region of $55,000.

2018 Audi SQ5 Changes

The SQ5 is brimming with technology, both in terms of powertrain and toys fitted inside. At the last update (2017 model year), Audi did say that they could push the output up to around 390 BHP, but that they would keep it at around 360 BHP – it actually had 354 BHP.

2018 Audi SQ5 Interior

Inside the SQ5 is a special place – fitted with lots of technology and high quality trim materials; the seats will be updated slightly for better comfort and support, wrapped in high grade leather. There will also be aluminum accents throughout the cabin, including the paddle shifters behind the flat-bottomed steering wheel.

2018 Audi SQ5 Specs

We think that the 3.0 liter V6 diesel will be upgraded to around 380 BHP for the 2018 model, thanks mainly to the tech fitted; along with a conventional exhaust driven turbo, there is an electric compressor / turbo system which helps to reduce lag and reduce under bonnet temperatures (one of the key ingredients in getting forced induction to really work). The motor is also fitted with AVS (Audi Valvelift System) which monitors the valve lift and adjusts according to demand – it’s very clever.

2018 Audi SQ5 Exterior

Aside from the power, it seems that Audi have updated the exterior to keep it fresh – depending on which trim level (and how much you want to spend), the options are many, including adaptive Xenon front lighting and LED rear taillights.

Audi will be keeping the full panoramic sunroof and the powered tailgate.
