2018 Chevy Colorado gets new diesel and redesign

The Colorado is a mid-size pickup truck that has been around for a while now, it has always looked muscular and hefty, but the new 2018 Chevy Colorado version should build on that, making it look more aggressive.

Capable of seating up to five adults comfortably, the Colorado is a proper utility based pickup, it isn’t just for show.
It’s a competitive market that Chevy are in, the next update of the Colorado needs to perform well or it will just sink without a fight.

2018 Chevy Colorado Release date

Information about the new Chevy Colorado is minimal, and whatever info there is, usually get things wrong (someone mentioning a Duramax engine knocking out 370 BHP for example). But from what we’ve been able to find out, we think the 2018 Chevrolet Colorado will hit the showrooms around the middle part of 2017.

2018 Chevrolet Colorado release date: mid-2017

2018 Chevy Colorado Price

Because this is such a competitive market, Chevrolet can’t just ramp up the prices, regardless of how many upgrades they introduce, so we think the new 2018 Colorado will go on sale for somewhere between $30,000 – $35,000, although we do think it will be closer to $35,000.

2018 Chevy Colorado Redesign and changes

Not much is going to change for the Colorado, it doesn’t look too dated, but does need some sort of refresh to keep up with the rivals. Chevrolet will no doubt go for the easy options of an updated grille and upgraded headlights; it’s such a simple thing to do that requires very little effort or investment and changes the whole front end of the car.

2018 Chevrolet Colorado Specs

As regards powertrain, even less is known at the moment, we think there will be a 2.8 liter 4-cylinder Duramax DOHC (Double Over Head Cam) engine, producing in the region of 200 BHP (although as we’ve already mentioned, other sites are quoting this motor producing 370+ BHP – absolutely not a chance). We would guess that there may be a more powerful engine in the line up somewhere – something with 300+ BHP but nothing has been confirmed by Chevy regarding this.

2018 Chevy Colorado Interior

Inside the car, we’ll see an updated MyLink infotainment system featuring an 8” touchscreen. It will also have Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as well as the regular features, but one thing we would say; the Colorado really is quite a utility vehicle so if you’re expecting leather, luxury and wood, you won’t find it here; plastic and rubber are the main components in the cabin.
