2018 Chrysler Pacifica The Gorgeous Minivan

For 2018, Chrysler are to revive the Pacifica name, except that this model won’t be an SUV, it will be a minivan. Chrysler make a big noise about how they were the ones to introduce the concept of a minivan to the world back in 1984, it became an overnight success.

In this modern world, the minivan has fallen foul of the style police; back in 2000, there were nearly 1 million minivans sold, in 2015, that was just 500,000 – half the number from those earlier days. However, half a million vehicles is still a good number, even more so if your competitors don’t produce a decent attempt at one.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Specs

Under the hood will be an updated Pentastar 3.6 liter V6 motor, perhaps the oldest thing in the vehicle. The motor will produce 287 BHP and 262 lb/ft of torque, driving the front wheels through a 9-speed auto transmission.

Chrysler have said that they intend to offer a full plug in hybrid later in the production cycle, this should be capable of delivering the equivalent of 80 MPG, with an electric only range of 30 miles before the V6 kicks in.

A minivan is never going to win awards for style, but the Pacifica is about as stylish as they come, of course, it will have full LED lighting all round and styling touches to give it a fresh look when it’s introduced.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Interior

Inside the Pacifica is really where everything is going to happen, Chrysler will be fitting lots of tech and making sure that it’s as user friendly as possible; thing like plenty of cubby space and a powered third row of seating (one touch of a button will see the third row slide into the floor, giving a flat surface) – the ‘Stow’n Go’ seating will be exactly the sort of thing that will appeal to families.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Equipment

Tech will include: rear view camera, surround view camera system, emergency braking, forward collision system, adaptive cruise control, lane assist, blind spot monitoring and the usual array of Bluetooth, USB and smartphone integration.
