The ultimate swansong for the C7 Corvette? Sure to be a collector’s item?
Perhaps those statements are true, it seems that Corvette are determined to make this the last C7, and therefore, maybe the best C7.
The ZR1 has certainly gotten better as it has aged; gone are the flimsy plastics and cheap finishing materials, replaced with high quality finishers and interiors, for that is where the ZR1 took most criticism. The 2018 model promises to be something special, it will be the last model before the C8 replaces it, and certainly the last model with three pedals – Corvette won’t be producing another manual shift after this.
2018 Corvette ZR1 Release date
As far as we know, the 2018 Corvette ZR1 will make its debut at the 2017 North American International Auto Show held in Detroit. We aren’t sure if the car will be in the showrooms then, or a little later that year.
2018 Corvette ZR1 release date: late 2017
2018 Corvette ZR1 Price
Expect to see this model start in the region of $120,000, which sounds expensive until you compare it with its direct competitors like the Ferrari 488 GTB.
2018 Corvette ZR1 Specs and Performance
Corvette are pulling out all the stops for this last model, power is expected to come from an updated LT4 small block V8, horsepower figures are being quoted as “above 700 BHP”, what isn’t clear is whether that power will come from a twin turbo system or supercharging and intercooler.
The power will be sent to the wheels via a Tremec 7-speed transmission, although there is possibly an option for GM’s 10-speed auto. Performance wise, the ZR is hot – zero to sixty should happen in less than three seconds (2.8) and it will go on to a top speed of 205 MPH, competing directly with the Ferrari 488 and the Porsche 911 Turbo.

2018 Corvette ZR1 Design
We also know that this new ZR1 will have active and adaptive aero, in particular, a massive rear wing, although sources say that Corvette are still evaluating whether that will be pneumatically operated.
As we’ve seen previously, the body will be a mixture of composites and it will be placed on an aluminum spaceframe chassis. This will help to keep weight to a minimum and ensure great handling and ride quality.
Finally, that interior; this ‘Vette will be upgraded to the max – we’ll see carbon fiber inserts and full leather & alcantara trims and sources say that there will be a custom instrument cluster, purely for this last version.
