Nowadays, not many companies have in their model range a muscle car. The most popular – Camaro and Mustang – eternal rivals. However, the Fiat Chrysler corporation with its Dodge brand is also not lagging behind. They have two very fast model – 4-door Charger and 2-door Challenger. The last one waiting for significant changes. There is rumors that 2018 Dodge Challenger muscle car will get a completely new platform and seriously modified appearance. In order to compete with its competitors, the company’s engineers will be eager to fight for weight loss.

Not so long ago Challenger underwent facelift, but according to the 5-year plan of the Chrysler, the new model Challenger should appear in 2018. Most likely, it will be the middle of the year.

2018 Dodge Challenger price
In the case of the new platform and powertrain, the vehicle cost can increase significantly. However, the cheaper version is also possible, which will receive less equipment as standard and is equipped with a light and simple 4-cylinder turbocharged engine, similar to the Mustang. The expected pricing will start from $35,000.

2018 Dodge Challenger redesign
Outside view of the new 2018 Dodge Challenger will change significantly. The overall concept of retro car will be kept, including the Coke-bottle styling in profile. However the car will get more aggressive appearance similar to the Charger. There are a few renderings and concept images appeared in the web are showing how the new Challenger 2018 might look like. So, it can get a larger niche for headlights, in the same style as the sedan, with halo-ring LED DRLs. Headlights pattern will be the same – four headlights in front and long stripe of rear light in rear – just like in classic Challenger. Rear lights will also get LED filling.
In general, the appearance in 2018 Challenger will remain in the same style, but will be more muscular and lightweight.
As for the interior it is not known – the modern Challenger has a fairly comfortable and ergonomic interior. It is possible that a new generation will get only slightly modified version. The most probable field of changes – new steering wheel, revised center tunnel with new gear lever and seats. More information will be available when the first test vehicles appear on the roads.

2018 Dodge Challenger Hellcat
The extreme 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat version of the muscle car is going to be updated as well. However, we don’t expect changes in powertrain. It would be the same 6.2L supercharged V8, producing 707 HP.
2018 Dodge Challenger ADR
There are rumors that there could be a new wide-body version of the Challenger called ADR. The only changes in comparison with the current Hellcat and standard 2018 Challenger RT in terms of design are enlarged, widened wheel arches, front and rear spoilers, diffuser and larger air vents on the hood.
2018 Dodge Challenger specs
There is a speculations that new 2018 Dodge Challenger will receive a new platform developed by Alfa Romeo engineers, which is also part of the Fiat Chrysler group. This Challenger can have excellent handling, at least no worse than the new Camaro.
There is no information regarding engine range. It is more likely that entry-level engine might change – instead of Pentastar V6 there will be new generation naturally-aspirated V6 or turbocharged I4 engine.

However, this downsizing trend may negatively affect sales – people admire muscle cars and Challenger in particular mainly because of its high-power V8 engines. Current 2018 Dodge Challenger RT equipped with a big V8.
As for transmission, 2018 Challenger will likely get a new 8-speed automatic. 2018 Dodge Challenger GT is likely to get a new AWD modification.
