2018 Ford F-150 Received a Facelift, Diesel Engine


Ford introduced an updated version of the F-150 pickup truck at Detroit motor show. The car has received a number of changes on the outside, but the most important innovation is that the model has finally offered a diesel engine. Main rivals for the truck are 2018 Chevy Silverado and Dodge Ram.

2018 Ford F-150 Diesel

Since the sale of F-150 engines on diesel fuel will commence in summer 2018, Ford has not yet spread the characteristics of the new engine. Officially declared that it has a displacement of 3.0L with V6 layout. However, according to US media reports, the diesel develops 254 hp power and 442 ft lb of torque.

New gasoline engines

Along with the overall modernization, Ford revised the range of gasoline engines: now the base for a pickup is naturally-aspirated V6 of 3.3 liters with 282 hp. He drove out of the range the old engine of 3.5 liters with the same power output. Another gasoline engines are also upgraded – naturally aspirated V8 5.0 and turbocharged V6 in a displacement of 2.7 and 3.5 liters. All these engines will get a start-stop system that allows you to save a little on fuel. All engines are now aggregated with the 10-speed automatic. Previously, the pickup was equipped with a 6-speed one.

Exterior changes

Outside the upgraded Ford F-150 can be found LED headlamps and a new grille, rather grating – because customers will be offered seven variants: chrome, painted in body color and matte.

Updated F-150 Release Date

The petrol version of the updated Ford F-150 will go on sale later this year, and diesel, as noted above, will be sold only in the summer of 2018.

In addition, Ford F-150 is available with the current generation body from the end of 2014. By results of 2016, this pickup has once again become the most popular new car in the US, sold 821,000 pieces.
