New Honda Civic Hatchback 2018 Has Come to Dealerships

By

The hatchback version of Civic has been revealed earlier this year, but only now the car is going to sale. Unlike sedan version, it is more sporty, has shorter body, more affordable price and overall more ‘youth-oriented’. Like any other Civic modification, it has a wide variety of trim levels and configurations to choose. What is also interesting, the hatchback-body Civics come to the US from Britain facility.

2018 Honda Civic Design features

There is nothing much to say about the 2018 Honda Civic hatchback design. It almost copies the other models of Civic lineup, at least looking at the front side of a car. In the rear, hatchback looks almost like sedan, but a bit shrinked in size and with enlarged trunk door. What is more, 10th generation Civic hatchback has nothing in common with previous generations even in terms of shape, looking more like a compact liftback. It also a slightly longer than sedan, just by four inches.

Large air intakes, gloss black accents of styling, mesh grille even in the rear part, along with integrated rear spoiler and large alloy rims – all this hints the sporty feature of Civic hatchback. Sport and Sport Touring trims also has twin center-mounted exhaust pipes, like in some race cars.

Civic 2018 Is a Driver’s Car

One more hint for ‘sportiness’ – 6-speed manual in combination with 1.5-liter turbocharged I4 in the standard trim. However, unlike other models in line-up, the turbo-four is the one and only choice. It produces 174 horsepower in most trims, while in Sport and Sport Touring it’s output boosted to 180 HP. If you don’t like manual transmission, the only alternative is a CVT.

The acceleration figures are quite well for an affordable hatchback, some even name it astonishing for $20,000+ car – just 6.9 seconds from zero to sixty, or 6.2 second in 180 HP versions. The top speed is 125 MPH. In other aspects, the fuel efficiency is stunning – 30-31 MPG in city driving and up to 40 MPG at the highway.

Redesigned 2018 Honda Civic Hatchback Interior and Features

The interior is mainly identical to sedan, but the Sport and Sport Touring trim has some sporty aspects, like red gauges, carbon-like trimming, aluminum pedals and leather-wrapped controls. It has a good quality of assembly, high grade plastic and leather, and looks pretty good. The luggage compartment is smaller than in sedan, but it opens wide and provides 26 cubic feet of luggage space when seats unfolded – comparable to the most of rivals and bigger than in Mazda 3.
