The Honda Ridgeline is just about to hit the 2nd generation, the 2017 model was launched earlier this year at the North American International Car Show in January. Could we see an equally early launch for the 2018 version?
Truthfully, the Ridgeline hasn’t been a great seller for Honda, especially when compared to some of the domestic pickup truck makers, but it seems as though Honda believe in it enough to update it for another year. Having said that, the updates are minimal, just enough to call it the 2nd generation.
2018 Honda Ridgeline Release date
It’s predicted that the 2018 Honda Ridgeline will be launched in the later part of 2017, but should Honda decide to follow the last launch, then we may even see it launched or at least debuted in early 2017, with a roll out to showrooms later on.
2018 Honda Ridgeline release date: mid-2017
2018 Honda Ridgeline Price
We don’t think that the price will change much from the predecessor, this means a starting price in the region of $30,000 for the base model.
2018 Honda Ridgeline Redesign and Changes
Very little has changed for the new 2018 Honda Ridgeline, certainly that is noticeable visually, although the cargo area has grown by a few inches, but even comparing them side by side, it’s doubtful that you’d notice without measuring it.

2018 Honda Ridgeline Specs
Under the hood, we have the same 3.5 liter V6 engine giving 250 BHP and 247 lb/ft of torque. This is the same motor as fitted to the Honda Pilot, which we know is being upgraded for 2018, so we may see those tweaks carry across to the Ridgeline, this would mean more power – 280 BHP and 262 lb/ft of torque.
2018 Honda Ridgeline Equipment
The new Ridgeline will have an updated Intelligent VTM-4 (Honda’s clever four wheel drive system) along with Eco Help System, Honda Sensing (the suite of safety features with Lane Guidance etc), Tire Pressure Monitoring system and LaneWatch.
It should also feature an updated and upgraded 8” touchscreen infotainment system which will take care of many of the safety features.
As for the rest, expect to see the normal features being fitted as standard, including USB, Bluetooth, 4G LTE, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
2018 Honda Ridgeline Interior
The cabin is well appointed and comfortable, although couldn’t be called luxurious by any standard, of course there will be options to smarten it up a bit including leather upholstery.
We aren’t sure whether the Honda Ridgeline will ever compete head to head against the domestic manufacturers, but it’s always good to have other choices.
