By

The 2018 model year Discovery Sport get a nicer, sleeker design than in the previous years, remind the Evoque and latest Range Rover family. The new car has become better looking, better equipped and promised to be more attractive to buyers. In addition to this, it doesn’t lose any off-road abilities previous Discovery models were famous for. The SUV also have three rows of seating, which is convenient for large families. 2018 Land Rover Discovery changes limited only to the new powertrain options for the US market.

2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport Specs

The main change for Discovery Sport is the replacement of old 4-cylinder Ford engine by all-new Ingenium family 2-liter with the same amount of cylinders. The new turbocharged engine produces 237 HP. Higher trims could come with boosted 286 HP version of the same engine. The powertrain is mated to a new 9-speed automatic gearbox. The layout is AWD only. Unlike European market, the North American won’t receive any turbodiesels, as well as more powerful gasoline engines.

If you think that 2-liter engine is too small for the car of such size, you may wrong – thanks to the wide usage of aluminum, multi-link rear suspension and variable ratio steering, Discovery Sport handles well and goes pretty nice, with the fuel efficiency level around 20 MPG combined.

Discovery Sport 2018 Price and Release Date

The SUV has already available for purchase in three trim levels: SE, HSE and HSE Luxury. The basic car costs $38,790 without options. Basic set of equipment includes leather interior, backup camera, multimedia system with 8-inch touchscreen, 18″ alloy rims. However, the basic trim doesn’t have some simplest things like seats heating – it is available only for the surcharge. 2018 Discovery Sport Redesign and Interior

Unlike the boxy design of the previous generation, the new Discovery and Discovery Sport get a new sleeker and better-looking exterior. However, looking at the side, you cannot note anything familiar with previous Land Rover models.

Despite quite an affordable price for the basic trim, the interior of 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport is almost a luxurious – soft-touch high-quality materials, large screens of dashboard and infotainment systems. The ergonomics are similar to more expensive models of the brand.
