2018 Lexus CT200h Updated, But Not For The United States

The first CT Lexus was debuted back in 2011, and it was the most compact and the first hybrid-only car on the model range. Basically, it was a Prius with a premium stuffing and the most affordable car in Lexus lineup. The decision of ceasing sales is not surprising at all – the sales of compact car were at the lowest possible point – just around 9,000 cars were sold in the United States for 2016. Unlike Prius, the CT200h has not been radically updated and have old hybrid tech borrowed from the previous generation of Prius. That’s the main reasons why the facelifted 2018 Lexus CT200h won’t come to the US.

2018 Lexus CT200h Few Changes

Despite being long 6 years in conveyor, we still don’t expect the all-new generation of car in the nearest future. Lexus confirms that by revealing the udpated version of CT200h. The update limited to some exterior details, new headlights and rear lights filling, interior modifications and trim level changes. It helps CT200h look refreshed and not so outdated. The exterior changes list includes:

  • redesigned grille;
  • new front spoiler;
  • redesigned tail lights with LED inserts;
  • new rear bumper with vents.

The interior has more interesting changes like 10-inch display infotainment system with navigation, which was previously available only with an additional package. However, the basic trim level still have the simplest multimedia with 7-inch screen. The upholstery level options are also broaden to more variants – now customers could order all-fabric interior, Tahara fabric with updated color palette.

More Safety Less Trim Levels

The model is further optimized by the shrink of trim levels available. Instead of wide range of 7 trim levels only 5 of them survived. Namely, Exclusive, Luxury and Sport was combined under Luxury F Sport trim. The simplest trim comes with dual climate control, 6-speaker multimedia, rear view camera and 16-inch rims. Next goes heated seats, parking sensors, 13-speaker audio with navigation. The CT200h 2018 also get an advanced Safety System+, new Lexus systems of active safety. It include emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and lane departure warning, as well as road signs detection.

Lexus CT200h 2018 Specs

There is nothing new in terms of technical specifications – CT200h 2018 has all the same powertrain, consist of 1.8L gasoline engine and electric motor, with 134 HP output combined. So, the performance and fuel efficiency figures will remain the same.
