The current generation Mazda6 debuted in 2012, providing astonishing design, great-looking interior and innovative Skyactive powertrains. It’s been more than 5 years since the car debuted, and the new generation should be prepared. However, Mazda top-management may think differently. Who needs to update a car that is still looking modern, have stable demand, and moreover meets all regulations. The recent debut of updated Mazda 6 with G-vectoring control could only confirm this guess-work. So, 2018 Mazda 6 may receive only a slight cosmetic or technical updates. Despite the abundance of concept cars, hint the future 6-model appearance, it is unlikely for Mazda to release the car before 2019.
Another hint for such decision is the absence of prototypes on public roads, which could indicate sooner release.

2018 Mazda 6 specs
The technical specifications of the 2018 model year Mazda 6 is more likely to remain the same. It seems that it’s a main Mazda drawback – such a beautiful car is lack of powerful turbocharged or V6 engine. The only choice for now, and presumably for 2018 – a inline 4-cylinder engine, with 2.5L displacement producing 184HP. Despite the size and power, the car is really fuel-efficient, showing 36 mpg rating on highway (with 6-speed automatic).
What is more, Mazda 6 could be a real driver’s car – one of a few brands, who are now afraid to offer 6-speed manual transmission in US-market.
