2018 Porsche Panamera lose weight, get a new hybrid

The 2018 Porsche Panamera will get a new modifications.

The Porsche Panamera was the first 4-door sedan ever produced by Porsche, and it started life back in 2009 as a way for Porsche to open up their market and attract new customers, thus sustaining further development work on their existing and future models, vehicles like the 918.

At the time, it was quite a radical departure for Porsche, after all, even being generous, you’d have to say that there never seemed to be anything too radical in their designs up to that point; 911, Boxster et al, all looked very similar. It’s as if the chief designer had been told that he must incorporate certain elements and then stuck to it forever more.

The new 2018 Panamera 4S E-Hybrid is sure to get a great reception; a fast, well-engineered sports car with a bit of Hybrid tech thrown in will fit well with Porsche’s market, although it must be said that it will actually be slower than both its European gas and diesel engined variants.

2018 Porsche Panamera Release date

Nothing has been officially said regarding the release date, but sources close to Porsche say that we should see the 2018 Panamera 4S E-Hybrid around the middle part of 2017.

2018 Porsche Panamera Price

We have no official pricing for the American market, but the European price should be close to €110,000, so we’d expect to see it selling in the U.S. for around the same – $110,000. It must also be said that Porsche have done well; in Europe, the Hybrid will be cheaper than the gas or diesel versions.

2018 Porsche Panamera Redesign and Changes

Under the hood, we’ll see a 2.9 liter twin-turbo V6 engine, coupled up to a 136 BHP electric motor. Power should be 462 BHP and a huge 516lb/ft of torque. The engine is actually sourced from Audi, but tweaked by Porsche. It will drive all four-wheels through a ZF 8-speed transmission, the overall effect is good enough for a zero to sixty sprint in 4.6 seconds and it will go on to a top speed of 173 MPH. As we’ve already said though, it is actually slower than its regular counterparts, including the diesel!

2018 Porsche Panamera Hybrid Range

The electric motor will power the car on its own for a range of around 31 miles, just so long as you’re very light-footed. Top speed of the electric only power is 87 MPH.
There will also be an option for a 550 BHP twin-turbo V8 gas engine.

As standard, this plug-in hybrid will come with a 3.6kW on-board charger, but if you need to recharge in a hurry, you can have the optional 7.2kW charger fitted.

2018 Porsche Panamera Equipment

A slight weight reduction over the current model has been possible thanks to an innovative new chassis, and as for other equipment, we’ll see new LED headlamps, upgraded safety systems and a 21 speaker Burmester 3D sound system fitted as standard.
