2018 Subaru Legacy is a 4-door sedan, equipped with Boxer engines and AWD.
Although Subaru have been manufacturing cars since the mid 1950’s, it took until the 90’s for them to really become well known, at least in Europe; the legend that was Colin McRae was seen throwing his ‘Scooby’ around some of the toughest World Rally stages and winning. This led to fans snapping up the Impreza at an unprecedented rate – they couldn’t get enough of them.
Truthfully, whether the car was that good or not wasn’t really the selling point, it was the likes of McRae that really sold the sporting heritage for Subaru.
Of course, Subaru became known for the odd noise that they made also; we were all used to 4, 6 or 8 cylinders, running a conventional layout, giving a conventional noise, but the Scooby sounded completely different thanks to the Boxer engine.
2018 Subaru Legacy Release date
Subaru haven’t yet confirmed anything, but we know that dealers are expecting to see the new 2018 Legacy in the middle part of 2017.

2018 Subaru Legacy Price
We know that Subaru will increase the price slightly, but really only to keep with inflation, so this means the new Legacy should start at a modest $23,000.

2018 Subaru Legacy Specs
Let’s start under the hood; we think there will be at least two engine options – 2.5 liter, 4-cylinder producing 175 BHP and the flagship 3.6 liter, 6-cylinder engine, producing around 270 BHP. We say we think there will be two, but from what we’ve heard, there could possibly be three – there is much talk of a hybrid system being fitted. If that IS the case, we think that Subaru will couple up a 2.0 liter 4-cylinder with a 10kWh electric motor which will use an energy recovery system (a little like the Formula 1 cars) to recharge the battery. Whatever the engine options, the power will be sent to all-four wheels via a CVT system.
2018 Subaru Legacy Redesign and Changes
We expect the new Legacy to lose a little weight, not that it was that heavy to start with though. The overall look of the car will be similar to the current model, perhaps the roofline will be slightly reshaped, along with updated and revised headlamps (optional steering responsive headlamps also), tail lights, front grille, instrument cluster and a completely reworked steering and front suspension geometry for better handling and ride quality.
2018 Subaru Legacy Equipment
Although the interior should be bigger, it won’t change that much from the current model, we know that there will be some minor updates to the instruments, and also the MyGIG infotainment system with touchscreen will be fitted.
