2019 Ford Expedition – Big and Roomy

Ford introduced the Expedition back in 1997, as the 4-door successor to the 2-door Bronco, it’s a full size SUV, with three rows of seating, enough for 8 occupants.

There have been lots of rumors regarding the new Expedition; it’s difficult to say exactly what is true and what is wishful thinking, but we think we’ve probably got most of it… the new Expedition has been seen out testing on public roads, although of course it has been heavily camouflaged. What we DO know is that the Expedition won’t be the new Bronco (as some rumors say).

2019 Ford Expedition Release date

Although the 2019 Ford Expedition has been out testing on public highways, we believe that it’s still some way off from production release. We think that we’ll see the debut of the new SUV later in this year at one of the larger auto shows, then a full roll out to the dealerships around mid 2018, as a 2019 Model Year.

2019 Ford Expedition Price

Ford haven’t given any indication of the price for the new model, however, the current 2017 Expedition starts at just over $47,000, so it has to be in that ball park, otherwise it just won’t be competitive. We think a small price increase is likely, so expect prices to start around the $48,000 mark.

2019 Ford Expedition Redesign and Changes

We know that Ford will make much of the body from aluminum, so the vehicle will be lighter, however, some sites have speculated that the new model will be 500 Kg (a little over 1,100 lbs!) lighter, we say… not a chance.

2019 Ford Expedition Specs

We have no solid information regarding engines, but it’s likely that Ford will fit the 3.5 liter V6 EcoBoost with as much as 400 BHP and the 2.7 liter EcoBoost. We would guess that the earlier models will roll off the production line with a 6-speed auto transmission, while the later versions will have the all-new 10-speed transmission. Front wheel drive will be standard, and of course there will be an all-wheel drive version.

2019 Ford Expedition Interior

The interior will be similar to the F-150 interior, probably due to cost implications, and will have the Sync3 infotainment with an LCD display, smart phone integration and Bluetooth.

2019 Ford Expedition Equipment

Expect all the usual safety gear; anti-collision, lane assist, rear view camera, adaptive cruise … pretty much everything you need, although what will come as standard still needs to be clarified.
