New Ford Fusion 2019 Is Possible To Be Next-Gen Model

By

The Ford Fusion was first introduced in 2005 as a 2006 model, it went on to become a huge seller for Ford, in 2015 alone, they sold more than 300,000 units, over two million since it was first introduced.

With the second generation coming along in 2012 as 2013 model, the Fusion has had a number of updates over the years, it has just had a facelift & refresh for the 2017 model. Due to this, the next significant difference will be expected for 2019.

There has been no official word from Ford about what we can expect to see for the 2019 Fusion, in fact very little rumor either, but looking toward the future and what other manufacturers are doing, this is what we’d expect to see.

Release Date and Price We Expect

Most car models get introduced late in the year before the designated model year, so we think the Ford Fusion 2019 will arrive in the USA showrooms late 2018, around September would be our guess, while next generation 2019 Ford Fusion concept will be shown earlier.

The base model Fusion currently retails around the $23,000 mark, what with inflation, technology and updates, we’d expect that the 2019 Ford Fusion price would start in the region of $25,000 to $26,000.

2019 Ford Fusion Redesign Preview

Truly, aside from FoMoCo and their engineers or designers, no one actually knows what Ford have in mind for the new Fusion. We expect full 2019 Ford Fusion redesign. The dimensions and interior size is likely to remain relatively the same.

Is it likely that Ford will keep the 2.7 liter EcoBoost turbo charged engine? We think so; regardless of what else happens, the Fusion will need a flagship model, with enough BHP to live with the competition, so the EcoBoost hits the right spot; good gas mileage with 325 BHP and 380 ft/lb of torque under the pedal. Expect next 2019 Ford Fusion hybrid to be more prominent also – manufacturers have to hit targets regarding corporate consumption figures, plus as the technology improves, it becomes cheaper – look at Tesla offering a decent all electric vehicle for $30,000+. The 2019 Ford Fusion Energi modification might become full-electric.

New Platform and Spec Improvements

Perhaps the biggest improvements in Fusion models we may find will be tech specifications related; the equipment fitted and what it can do. Autonomous? Possibly not full autonomy, that tech is still under development and therefore still quite pricey, but we would expect to see improvements like lane assist with lane keeping (steering) technology and forward collision warning with auto braking. A gradual introduction to autonomous driving. Of course, we’re pretty sure that weight reduction and gas economy will play a part; the new 2019 Fusion will be built on a new platform, possibly with composite panels or technology and an updated transmission – we’d bet on a minimum of an 8-speed auto to be fitted.
