As we remember, in 2020 Audi promises to give birth to three electric vehicles. One of them will be the top-end executive Audi A9 e-tron sedan, who is in the original table of ranks will be above the current A8 line.
Information about the car is actually official – the head of the brand Rupert Stadler gave such information in an interview with Autocar magazine. Interestingly, earlier in Ingolstadt A9 planned to make as the large coupé format a la Mercedes-Benz S-Class coupe or a Bentley Continental GT, but now the concept is reviewed and the bets are made on the four-door executive sedan, which in theory would oppose such car as Mercedes-Maybach S-class.
Audi A9 e-tron specs
The main difference from the same Merc “King” will be the electric power plant, which has much in common with the Q6 e-tron SUV based on the concept of e-tron Quattro. As SUV, the big sedan will be equipped with three electric motors – one, rotating front wheels, and two installed on the rear axle, fueled by a lithium-ion battery capacity of 95 kWh and to control the thrust vector. The potential output of the power plant has not been revealed, but we do not doubt the total power exceeding 400 hp.
One of the main advantages for the consumer will be a travel range up to five hundred kilometers (310 miles). Such range the claimed by a company itself, but in fact, we are sure it might be less because of the specific measurements in European NEDC cycle, different from EPA measurements.
Audi A9 e-tron goes autonomous
Unmanned technology – another leap forward for Audi A9 e-tron. According to rumors, that such system on an electric sedan will be more advanced than the new the A8, which the world is looking forward to next year. Customers still have time to take the big sedan’s electric for granted: the sale of A9 will presumably begin in 2020.
