The story of “Volkswagen” start since October 1933.
May 28, 1937 was the formation of the company “Gesellschaft zur Vorbereitung des Deutschen Volkswagens GmbH”, which 16 September 1938, got the name of the Volkswagenwerk GmbH. First Volkswagen plant was founded on may 28, 1938 near the town of Fallersleben.
1939 was marked by the release of 2 models V38s and V39s. They were introduced innovations such as door hinges of new design, increased door handle, the presence of 2 rear Windows in the cabin.
The first copies of the German “people’s car” made a splash. Wrote about it in the newspaper, admired and constructors and drivers in all countries. With a light hand journalists of the New York Times Volkswagen VW30 dubbed the “Beetle”, the resemblance was really great, and later the Volkswagen beetle became the second name of the car.
Today the products of the Volkswagen Group has become the standard German reliability and quality. 20% of all sold in Western Europe cars are its cars and trucks, known under five brands: Volkswagen, Audi, Skoda, SEAT and Rolls-Royce and produced at plants located in 15 countries.
