According to unconfirmed information, the new Mustang Shelby GT500 is coming, with the engine producing well over 700 hp
Ford engineers are aimed to beat the main rival – Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat with 707hp engine. Now the last year Shelby GT500, the top version of “Mustang” of the past generation, has only 662-horsepower V8 engine 5.8 liters capacity with a mechanical supercharger and was toppled from its pedestal by Dodge. Even the Chevy Camaro ZL1 has 82 hp more.
New GT500 may get the new 5.0-liter EcoBoost engine with direct fuel injection and two turbochargers. Its power may exceed 740 hp, according to Horsepowerkings, citing a source in the company. It may be the same engine as in upcoming Ford Raptor 2016.
As you can see, the modern muscle cars are getting smarter, and this applies not only to the more advanced engines, but also the use of lighter materials. New cars 2016 Shelby GT350 and GT350R with naturally aspirated 5,2 “V-eight” got a number of components made of aluminum and carbon, including carbon wheels for GT350R. Another case in point – the new mid-engined supercar Ford GT, with a broad application of carbon fiber.
The premiere of Shelby GT500 will likely take place in 2016 Detroit Motor Show, although the car is also very likely to be revaled in smaller North American auto show.
