Ford plans to revive Bronco brand

In 2018 Ford plant located in Detroit will cease production of the Ford Focus and C-Max, after which the production area will be occupied by completely different cars. A source in the company told the Automotive News magazine about possible Ford bosses plan to return to the United States Ranger pickup, who descended from the local scene at the end of 2011. But more interesting fact – the name of the Bronco, once belonged to the line of SUV, probably revive and assign to facelifted Ford Everest SUV.

Old “Bronco” was a true “Yankee”, unlike its successor, Ford Everest, designed in Australia and produced in Thailand. If you close your eyes to this fact, the return of Bronco from a historical point of view it seems quite fair.

It is possible that Ford, paying tribute to its own history, change the appearance of “Everest”, although completely original retro-style interior a la Bronco Concept 2004 is not expected. Structurally, the “Aussie” and “American” likely to be similar, if not identical. Frame construction, continuous rear axle on springs, all-time four-wheel drive, everything will be similar in US-spec car. However the range of engines could be changed: 2.3 and 3.2 liter diesel engines will be changed to running on gasoline.

If the Bronco will be revived, it will have to compete with mid-size “old school” SUVs like Toyota 4Runner.
